"Sam has been serving all of our piano needs for the past 3 years. When we first started piano lessons with our son, we were not sure if we could swing the cost of purchasing a piano. Our piano teacher referred us to Sam at Washington Pianos. Sam helped us pick out a quality used piano for a price we could afford. He delivered the piano to our house with great care and saw that it was tuned. Sam has since been providing regular piano tunings for our family. Sam is always quick to respond, professional, reliable, and takes great care in his work. We have been very happy with his services. I would like to add that Sam has made repairs and regularly tunes my mother's piano. She has been very pleased with his services. She does not use a computer, so I wanted to share her experience as well. Thank you Sam!!"

"Anthony was extremely responsive and was available to arrive an hour after I called. We needed a heavy, unwieldy lounger brought down from upstairs and a new loveseat to be brought upstairs in its place. The Wright Move team was highly skilled in making this happen with no damage or wall-scuffing whatsoever. They even installed the wooden feet on the new loveseat for me. Friendly and professional. Would definitely recommend."

"They were an hour late as they we’re waiting on 3rd mover which never came. But the 2 that showed up did they’re best. It was a big move. The owners showed up with 3rd person as they were finishing up. They also adjusted prices. All and all I was happy with the results. Would hire again."

"EC Movers did not have their own truck so I did not hire them, otherwise I would have. He is very kind and courteous though and always called back right away. When I called him he was on vacation but was still very professional and courteous."

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

To prepare for moving a piano, start by documenting its current condition with photos in case of any damage during the move. Secure the piano's lid and wrap the instrument, including its keys and pedals, with bubble wrap and moving blankets for protection. Note that if you have hired professional piano movers, they may handle this step for you.

Next, prepare the space. Measure any tight spaces or doorways to ensure the piano will fit through. Clear a wide path from the piano's location to the exterior door, removing any furniture or obstacles. It is also helpful to prop open doors to make the exit easier.

On moving day, ensure the moving truck can park as close to the exit as possible. For safety, keep children and pets away from the moving area to prevent accidents or distractions.

When loading a moving truck, the general rule is to load the heaviest and largest items first to create a stable base at the front of the truck, which helps balance the weight. You can start with large furniture like sofas, beds, mattresses, and tables to form a solid foundation, or begin by placing your heaviest boxes against the truck's walls to create a base layer. After the base is set, continue loading other large items like appliances and square furniture. Lighter and smaller objects, including most of your boxes, should be loaded last. They can be packed into gaps, around, and on top of the heavier items to maximize space. Following this order makes unloading easier and helps prevent damage to your belongings.

Movers know the best way to pack different items to protect them during a move and make the most of the space in a moving truck. You can pack your belongings to save money, but there’s a higher risk of damage.

Unfortunately, moving scammers exist, so it’s important to thoroughly vet your moving company before scheduling a service date. Your moving company is likely legitimate if the offer fits within the average cost range, they provide proper contracts and moving insurance, don’t require a large deposit, and have several positive and recent online reviews from previous customers. Feel free to request previous customer information from the moving service and contact them to inquire about their experience to ease any lingering concerns.

Plastic bins are excellent alternatives to moving boxes. They’re more durable than the traditional cardboard. Have any unused suitcases? Those can make for great storage solutions for your long-term needs. Avoid plastic bags or anything that doesn’t allow for breathability.
