"Was willing to fit me into a schedule on short notice. Showed up on time, with fresh eggs from his chickens! Estimate for time was spot-on. Great work with a friendly demeanor, clearly communicated expectations. Knows what he is doing, cleans up after himself."

"We hired KEIR Construction to help bring our backyard renovation project to life. Kevin + team helped lay out plans, gave feedback on design and took action quickly. I appreciated him staying on schedule and putting realistic timing expectations out there for completion. Kevin did a great job at planning each step to flow properly, and even though I was antsy to get the job done, he didn't rush in quality or craftsmanship. Multiple times I saw him out there leveling and working with precision for best results. Kevin was savvy with cost, helping to save where we could and was communicative in the process. Many thanks for your hard work, showing up morning noon and night to make this project a success just in time for summer! Job Scope: Dirt Demolition and drainage correction, Retaining wall, Firepit, New seeded lawn, Landscaping and Patio extension and sealing, Home painting, Fence staining, and Gutter repair."

"They built a new garage for us - a pole-built building. All work was excellent including a bunch of extra stuff we added at the end. I recommend this company."

"We hired Jim and his team to complete a remodel of our Master Bathroom. Jim communicated with us through every step of this project. It is very clear that he takes an immense amount of pride in his work and it shows. His pricing was very reasonable and the job was completed within the time frame discussed and agreed upon."

"Yes! Eduardo and his son did a great job and I highly recommend them to anyone. There’s a lot of contractors who reached out about this project but what I really liked and one of the reason why I hired them because when Eduardo came out to look at the projects he listened and and then he shared with me his thoughts, unlike the others who just insisted this and that and I even almost kicked one out of the house already. After all, we the homeowners are the customers . Anyways, there’s more projects ahead of us and I definitely don’t mind having them to come out for estimate. We showed photos to friends and families and they all loved it."

Garages questions, answered by experts

The difference between vinyl and rubber garage door bottom seals comes down to cost, flexibility, and climate. Vinyl is the budget-friendly option, lasting well in moderate climates and resisting wear and tear. In colder climates, it can get stiff and make installation more difficult. Alternatively, rubber offers more flexibility, even in freezing temperatures, and better sticks to uneven surfaces. Rubber is more expensive but tends to be more adaptable.

Insulating an unheated garage can still be worth it. For instance, insulating an attached garage can help with heat loss from your house in general, and it can also make it easier to store electronics in your garage without worrying about them being exposed to extreme temperatures.

If you use your detached garage as a workspace, insulation can still make a difference. Plus, you can use space heaters and a window unit AC to help condition the space while you work without installing heating.

There is a reason many commercial garages and storage facilities have roller garage doors. They stand out as one of the most secure options due to their unique design. The compact installation and absence of visible leverage points on the sturdy aluminum curtain make them a formidable obstacle for potential intruders.

The best paint for a garage door depends on the door's material, the desired finish, and durability requirements.

Paint Type

The type of paint you need often depends on the material of your garage door:

  • Aluminum Doors: Typically require exterior acrylic paint.

  • Vinyl and Wood Doors: Exterior latex paint is usually recommended.

  • Steel Doors: Professionals often use latex or oil-based paint.

You can choose between acrylic, oil-based, and latex paints. Acrylic paint offers excellent UV and weather resistance and dries quickly, but may require multiple coats. Oil-based paints are very durable and may only need one coat, but they dry slowly and emit more VOCs. Latex paint is available in a wide range of colors and is forgiving to apply, but it can crack over time and may require a primer for even coverage. For an eco-friendly option, consider acrylic latex paint.

Paint Finish

You have a wide variety of finishes to choose from, including semi-gloss, gloss, satin, eggshell, and matte. The choice is largely based on personal preference, but many people opt for a semi-gloss or gloss finish. These finishes dry to a hard, durable surface that stands up well to humidity and regular wear and tear.

Regardless of the type or finish, it's crucial to use a quality exterior paint that can withstand the elements. Using a primer before painting will ensure better adhesion and a more even, long-lasting result.

Standard garage door sizes for single doors range from 8 feet wide by 7 feet tall to 9 feet wide by 7 feet tall. An oversized single garage door would be 10 feet wide by 7 feet wide. The standard size for double garage doors is 16 feet wide by 7 feet high. However, some custom double garage doors can be as wide as 20 feet.
