"It couldn't have gone better! I called them Thursday night and Rick and his son, Wyatt, came out early the next morning. I know nothing about a septic system, but Rick was so helpful, understanding and HONEST!! I have had this problem for the past 5 days, but seemed to clear up after I had called another well-known company because my toilet was backed up. All they did was run a "snake" through the pipes and charged me TWICE as much as Rick Aits did and Rick did WAY more than the other company. It might not mean much, but the little things matter! When Rick and Wyatt dug up my yard to get to the tank, he saved the sod to put back as best as he could instead of just tearing up my yard. I really appreciate that. I would absolutely use Aits Septic Repair Service LLC again and recommend them to everyone! Great work, trustworthy, timely, and reasonably priced!! I am so grateful to them for not taking advantage of my lack of knowledge of how a septic system works while my husband is serving overseas. THANK YOU RICK!!!!"

"The young man sent to replace my pressure tank was friendly, respectful, and very knowledgeable. In addition, I did not have an emergency but my job was scheduled very shortly after the initial scoping visit and initial outreach from the company. Thank you."

"Called DB's due to a back up of our sump pump. Turned out to be the main sewer line needed repair. DB's spelled out both options (fix part of line or replace entire line). We went ahead and replaced all with the newer technology of "pipe-bursting" that they had described and do not regret it. The price was fair and the work was done entirely in one day.
They even laid down straw so my dogs wouldn't get so muddy.
I am pleased and will continue to use them for future plumbing needs. A+

"Initial survey be Bob Hanifin was helpful an informative.  He helped us to select the right generator for needs in the price range that we could afford.  Dee Shirley coordinated the down payment and installation schedule.  Electricians Victor and Jimmy arrived right on time and, after surveying our electrical panel and basement layout,  explained the best approach for placing the generator and running the conduit into the basement and over to the breaker panel.   They completed the work on schedule and returned after the propane tank was installed the following week to test the generator's operation and provide us with training to operate the system. Our only concern is that the generator is louder than we expected.  We are pleased with this purchase.

"The Pipe Doctor replaced the flush valve, the valve at the bottom of the toilet tank, the gasket between the toilet tank and the body of the toilet, and the valve at the wall. All the work was done well. Altogether, the work cost quite a lot more than I expected when I bought a $59 service call."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

Yes, septic tank companies must be licensed in most states and municipalities to perform services like installation, alteration, repair, and pumping. Since laws vary by location, it's crucial to check local requirements.

Hiring an unlicensed professional can lead to poor work, code violations, and significant fines. Always verify that your chosen company is properly licensed and fully insured to avoid liability. You can use tools like Angi’s contractor licensing search to check a pro's credentials.

It's also helpful to understand the difference between licensing and certification. A license is a legal requirement to operate, while certifications are voluntary. Credentials like the “Angi Approved” badge indicate that a business meets extra standards, such as passing a background check and maintaining a high rating.

Yes, a septic tank can get full. If this happens, you might run into issues flushing your toilets or draining your sinks. You may also notice your pipes making gurgling noises or the smell of sewage floating around your house. Other signs of a backed-up septic tank include water pooling or fresh, healthy grass growing above your drain field.

A septic system can fail for various reasons, and most commonly, excessive water use or sudden surges in wastewater can overwhelm the system's capacity. Neglecting regular maintenance, like tank pumping and inspections, can also lead to clogs, leaks, and eventual breakdowns. Other issues that lead to failure include age-related wear and tear, root infiltration, improper disposal of non-biodegradable materials or chemicals into the system, unsuitable soil conditions, physical damage, and even environmental factors like flooding or soil erosion.

Yes, a septic tank riser can replace a concrete septic tank lid. Risers are designed to replace various types of septic tank covers, including concrete, metal, and fiberglass, to provide easier access for pumping and repairs. While a plastic riser makes future access more convenient, the initial replacement can be difficult because concrete lids are very heavy, so it is a job best left to professionals. Once installed, you will need to be cautious around the riser during yard work, such as mowing, to avoid causing damage.

Yes, shower water goes into the septic tank. Shower water is a type of greywater, and in fact, all water used in a home with a septic system—including water from sinks, toilets, the dishwasher, and the washing machine—drains into the tank. When shower water enters the tank, debris like soap and hair travels with it. The solid debris sinks to the bottom to become sludge, while soap residue joins the scum layer at the top. The remaining water is treated in the tank before moving to the drain field for further treatment and dispersal. It is important to avoid putting oil or harsh chemicals down any drain, as they can cause clogs or disrupt the beneficial bacteria required for proper wastewater management in the septic system.
