"Mr. FIX IT has a great customer service team that are very helpful and friendly. They keep you informed every step along the way! The installation team of Kevin and Eddie were very professional and possessed ultimate knowledge of their task. They installed a new "Jacuzzi Bath" converting my 40 year old bathtub/shower combination into a beautiful and modern walk in shower! It looks fantastic! I will say that the conversion was not cheap, but quality materials and workmanship never is! I highly recommend "MR. FIX IT" and would not hesitate to use their services in the future! "My wife and I purchased a charming brick ranch home from the 1970s with dreams of transforming it into our ideal living space. Our first project was opening up the kitchen/family room to the living room by removing a load-bearing wall—definitely not a DIY job. We posted our project on Angie’s List and were soon contacted by Isai Huezo, owner of Huezo’s Construction LLC. Isai visited us the next day, and his estimate was so reasonable that we eagerly hired them on the spot. On Monday, a professional crew of four, led by a foreman, arrived promptly at 7:00 AM and got straight to work. They were not only highly skilled but also incredibly polite, keeping the work area immaculate during the demolition. By the second day, the team had seamlessly removed the remaining 2x4s, installed a robust lintel beam, and perfectly matched the drywall and trim to the rest of the house. We also had an outdated picket wall around the basement stairs. Isai recommended modernizing it with a sleek 3-foot wall, and it was completed within the three-day timeframe. Thrilled with their exceptional work, we discussed adding a dream screen porch and deck. The estimate was too good to pass up, so we went ahead. The results were nothing short of spectacular. The screen porch was beautifully integrated with the roof joists, and the deck, built on sturdy 6x6 posts and attached to the house, was a masterpiece. The porch featured custom wiring for lights, a ceiling fan, and outdoor floodlights, with a stunning tongue-and-groove pine ceiling stained in a glossy walnut finish. The craftsmanship was top-tier, and the crew's professionalism and courtesy made the entire experience a delight. Encouraged by their success, we tackled our outdated 1970s kitchen next. Isai returned to vent and wire the microwave, install LED lighting, and add a sconce light. He even refinished the ceiling and windows. After removing the cabinets, Isai didn’t miss a beat, finishing the ceiling, painting the trim and windows, and installing a beautiful tile backsplash. When we realized our old appliances didn’t match the newly renovated space, Isai went above and beyond, helping us select and purchase new appliances and offering to install them. Huezo Construction exceeded our expectations in every way with their exceptional craftsmanship, incredible value, and the wonderful camaraderie we developed with Isai and his crew. We eagerly anticipate remodeling the bathrooms and building a concrete back porch with them. I wholeheartedly recommend Huezo’s Construction for any project."

"Finished kitchen tile project turned out great. I was concerned because of water damage from a leaky dishwasher but they pulled up wet vinyl and rescheduled the installation a few days until under subfloor dryed out. Everything turned out well."

"Fulcher Construction is the way to go! He is very professional and extremely efficient. We had a sudden and quite massive leak on our first floor, he identified the problem being the upstairs bathtub and accessed it with minimal damage and repair. We were so thankful he was ready and willing to fix it for us at such short notice and got us back to a fully functioning home within the day. 10/10 would use again and recommend!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.

No, painting shower tile doesn’t last and is better reserved as a temporary solution to refreshing the look of old tiles. Shower tile paint may last around one to five years, depending on how well you prep the surface before painting, the type of paint you use, the type of tile in your shower, and how often you use the shower.

If the hearth ends against a wall, you can use a tile cutter as you normally would. However, if the edge of your hearth ends with no surface pressing against it,you may want to look into rounded tiles. These give a smooth edge to your hearth and make sure cut edges aren’t visible. You can also see if the tile you have has pieces that have been glazed or rounded on one edge. You’d then cut the tile and place it normally, with the cut edge facing inward.

You can use sanded or unsanded grout for a shower pan, but sanded grout isn’t the best option for shower walls. For those areas, you’ll want to use unsanded grout, which works well on vertical surfaces and is less likely to slump than sanded grout. Alternatively, you can use epoxy grout for shower walls.

Thinset mortar is the best adhesive for ceramic tiles on concrete. It is easy to work with and has a slower dry time than mastic or epoxy mortars. This longer dry time gives the installer more time to adjust tiles, which is especially useful for DIYers who may not have tile installation experience. It can also be built up to help level any depressions or gaps in the concrete subfloor.
