"I have just had my countertops and backsplash installed by Classic Granite and Marble. I am beyond pleased. When my slabs arrived, I went to the factory to check them out. Mark was professional, personable and made me feel confident in my decision. Joseph, the template man, was great. He took his time and checked and double checked and triple checked his dimensions before being satisfied. The installation crew were the best. They were careful and efficient and knew what to do. The whole process was flawless. I can now walk into my kitchen without having to turn on a light to see. It is so much brighter than the cave I had before. I will absolutely recommend CGM to anyone who needs new counters. I am very glad the Home Depot has aligned with them."

"I was very pleased with the work and how the job turned out. I went to different places looking for the exact color scheme I wanted to match my cabinets. When measuring my kitchen the owner said he had the exact piece for me. I trusted his judgement ( tho I was nervous). The countertops were just right! After being in my house for over a year I am happier now than ever with my purchase. The guys that installed them were nice also."

"He was reliable, polite, on time and a pleasure to have in my home. I had received the offer for 6 hours of work via email from angie's list. So I called him and he came to look at the job. After that we scheduled the date to perform the work in which he was on time and ready to go. He made sure throughout the entire day that I was happy with his work as he progressed. He often asked my opinion on certain things to make sure that I would be happy with the final product. the trim he installed was beautifully done and the holes he patched in the ceiling used to be such an eye sore. I will definitely be calling him for future work and will happily recommend him to others."

"G & G were here on time, and were done with the entire roof by 2 PM in the afternoon.  They worked very quickly and efficiently.  They were very polite, and cleaned up well.  They took a magnet machine around our house to pick up all the loose nails, making sure there were none left behind.  I would recommend them to anyone looking to have their roof worked on."

"During coldest week, pipe burst in the back wall of my house. Mr. Palumbo raced to my house, turned off main water supply (from under manhole cover in sidewalk), replaced frozen/burst pipes, tore up damaged floor to allow for drying, met with the insurance adjustor, replaced back wall of vinyl siding, and installed new ceramic tile to kitchen/den floor.  Homeowner's insurance paid for about 1/2 of the damages. Work was done quickly and professionally, and fixed just in time for the next "deep freeze".  Everything looks perfect!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Tile shouldn’t be set tight against the tub. Bathtubs can expand when filled, and they can shift slightly with the weight of occupants. For this reason, it’s important to leave a slight gap between the bathtub and the first row of tile. Aim for a narrow gap of approximately 1/16 of an inch, filled with caulk, to allow for this expansion and movement while still allowing for tile shower waterproofing.

Per the International Code Council, walk-in shower floors should have a minimum slope of 1/4-inch per foot (or a 2% slope) towards the drain. The slope should be no steeper than 1/2-inch per foot (or a 4% slope). This helps safely direct water into the drain rather than all over your bathroom.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.

The lifespan of bathroom tile can be 50 years or more, depending on proper installation and regular maintenance. A well-done tile job, whether it's a new installation or a retiling project, can last for many decades. To lengthen the life of your tile, it's best to have it installed by a professional and to perform regular maintenance. This includes routine cleaning, resealing, and regrouting as needed. With proper care, you can expect your tile to last 10 years or more before needing major repairs or retiling, especially in high-traffic areas where tiles can wear out more quickly.

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.
