"They came and looked at our roof but unfortunately they do not understand what an estimate means. The customer is expecting to pay a certain price for certain repairs. Nothing more, nothing less. This company likes to include open ended clauses in the contract which would allow them to charge more as they see fit when they get the job and the competition with other providers is over. This is just unacceptable. Nobody hires a company without a clear budget unless they want trouble."

"Al came out initially on time (early actually!) was exceptionally professional and gave a tiered quote on work that "needs" to be done and "could" be done with fair pricing. We scheduled the work for a later date and Al returned and did a fantastic job! He was punctual (again) and efficient-completing all the agreed upon work in a timely manner. He also plugged a hole in the back of our fireplace we didn't know about until we removed the wood burning stove and filled extra cracks on the chimney after capping it. Kirby Kerns was one of the two who conducted a thorough inspection during their site visits, and they offered a better constellation of services that met my needs--and at a better price. The roof, gutter and downspout replacement and the soffit and chimney mortar repairs were completed to my satisfaction by staff and contractors who comported themselves courteously and professionally. What impressed me about Kirby Kerns was their willingness to visit my home a second time to discuss options and alternatives and what should appear in the contract, necessary because of things I had learned from on-line research after the first visit, and a third time to resolve minor anomalies in the contract. I was surprised by a fourth visit a few days after the work had been completed, the purpose of which was to inspect what they had done. He has worked with Affordable for many years. We used Affordable originally for some relatively minor roof repairs and were very satisfied. "Jesse was very responsive and performed a quick repair after a windstorm to prevent further damage while we were preparing for a full roof replacement. His proposal was very competitive and thorough. Jess kept us up to date on the schedule and when the team would be available to complete the work. They arrived around 7:30am, brought extra people and worked late to complete the full roof replacement in one day due to rain that was forecasted for overnight. This included ripping off all of the old shingles and tar paper, repairing some damaged sheathing, replacing all of the drip edge, tar paper, ice guard, and new architectual shingles. During the installation, the team accidentally dented one piece of the fascia and Jesse replaced it at no cost immediately. I would highly recommend Jesse and his team if you are considering a roof repair or full replacement. Very professional, responsive, and competitive on their pricing."

"Bottom Line: This is the first time using Chim Chim-Churee. They did excellent work for a reasonable price, and more importantly, built a huge amount of trust with the customer. Communication: Scheduling the initial estimate was easy and timely, while communications continued throughout the process. Scoping Work: This is probably the most important first step in any project and often either messed up or purposely inflated. The technician actively listened to my desires and provided detailed advice and options. For this project, we needed the chimney covers on two chase chimneys replaced and a reframing on one of them with rotted wood. Quality of Work: Stainless steel chase covers were powder-coated in black and caps and pipe painted to match. Thomas went out of his way to ensure we got the best looking result we could despite some hiccups on our communication on that end product. The result was very satisfactory. Pricing: Price was the best of three highly ranked Angie’s List companies and regardless, they price match. Chim Chim-Churee's expertise, practical scoping, willingness to explain the details of the project, timely communication, and excellent work took the hassle out of this project. Their willingness to ensure we got the product we wanted despite some miscommunications went a long way in building trust for future projects."

"P. J. McTavish & Co. from Burtonsville, MD was hired to replace and repair a very old damaged roof on my Rancher Home, which has a few additions in the rear. These additions have many peaks, valleys and an area of flat roof. We had many other companies look at it and some didn’t even want to take on the job, and if they did it was for a price I could not afford. I had officially given up hope. This truly was not an easy job to partake in. Hiring P.J. McTavish & Co. was truly the best decision. Mr. Pat was caring and truthful about the horrible shape my roof was in. I knew he was being truly honest, cause I heard from other contractors the same problems. But he assured us his team would do the job as efficiently as possible.
