This was an interstate move (DC to PA) in less-than-ideal conditions (we had to move an adult family member out of the apartment). The crew, Roberto and Harry, were empathetic, caring, and incredibly efficient with packing, loading, and unloading the one-bedroom apartment. I spent the day worrying (needlessly) that the storage unit I had rented was too small. The crew fit all of the items neatly and safely into a 5x10' unit with room to spare. I've never seen anything like it. I also want to give kudos to the front office. They were the first company to respond to my inquiry, answered all of my questions patiently, and kept us informed about when the crew was arriving. "I contacted American Moving based on the reviews here on Angies List; they were one of three companies I contacted. Mike came out to the house to look things over and talk through the details of my move requirements; most of the bids were all virtual, this personal touch did make a difference. The price he quoted ended up being right in the middle of the other bids and I went with them. Moving day was scheduled on a day that was calling for TERRIBLE weather and Mike was able to accommodate my request to move the date up by a day which was perfect. The movers were super punctual, super professional and so helpful as some of the "where to put things" decisions were not all worked out. They were patient and also so pleasant to work with. "The actual movers were excellent. They were on time and pleasant. The guys managing the company (who were not on site for the move) changed the price after the work was done. The first guy I spoke to to set up the move quoted me one price and the guy I talked to on the day of my move upped the price. I had never signed a contract before hand eventhough he said I did. We finally came to an agreement on price that was reasonable but more than I was quoted. If I use them again, I will get the price in writing and have them sign it before any work is scheduled."
