He verified, with me, that he was at the correct home and then explained the process he used for his inspections. Throughout the day he kept me informed of his progress and if I ventured into the area he was working, he stopped and showed me various connections and pipes which I found interesting and educational. Joshua was knowledgeable about the wiring and plumbing in a well structured home of 111 years and I appreciated him sharing information with me. "Came in, barely looked around house or attic. Refused to crawl into attic to look for nesting. Stood at ceiling entrance and tossed in poison. No strategy to deal with them and no inspection of the area at all. Way overprice for service provided. Would not recommend them at all."

It’s worth getting a wind mitigation inspection if you’re trying to save on your homeowners insurance. Plus, passing an inspection proves that your home is in good condition if a tropical storm, hurricane, or windstorm comes your way. Even if you don’t pass, getting a wind mitigation inspection is still helpful because it will let you know which areas to improve to make your home safer.

Homeowners insurance policies generally do not cover polybutylene pipes because of the high risk they pose. Some homeowners insurance companies have been threatening to terminate policies if homeowners do not replace them. Review your personal policy to be sure, but it’s a safe bet that they’re not covered—and you should prioritize repiping your home as soon as possible to avoid costly, uncovered damage.

As long as the home inspection reveals no problems with the property’s structure, it shouldn’t be an issue buying an underpinned home. In fact, a properly underpinned property can be more stable than houses that have never had structural issues. However, you could face a higher insurance premium if the property has a history of structural problems. You should always request a structural engineer’s report before making a final decision.
