"Roof crew was excellent! Gutter crew also excellent. Siding crew was horrible. I live in a townhouse so there is only a front and a back. Took them 2 days & it would have been longer if my husband didn't push them along. Some of the sales people are slick & make you belive all is included when it isn't. The siding crew left a bad taste in my mouth & will never use them again."

"The job is only half done right now, but it looks like we are not getting what we expected. The salesman lead us to believe that the siding had insulation backing built into it. It does not. The guys doing the job are great. The reason we chose this company is because the quality of the siding sounded better. It is not."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"Home Fix installed new windows several years ago. As part of that they put aluminum siding on the bump out under my bay window. The windows are great and I was very happy with them, but I discovered last year that the siding was leaking into my kitchen and much of the wood had rotted. Jonathan at Home Fix stepped in and helped me to resolve this problem. The company sent a team of two men to build an entire new bump out. They did a great job and there was no cost to me. I appreciate that they honored their warranty without any debate."

"The house is a tudor style 4 unit apartment building with a 4 car detached garage.  The building has a covered front porch and a 2nd floor roof balcony that leaked,  To further complicate matters, the building is completely tenant-occupied, and we (the owners) live in the Washington, DC area, while the property is 200 miles away in Portsmouth, VA.  Ralph came out to do an estimate of replacing the roof on the house and garage.  He was punctual and his estimate was a little lower than other estimates we received.  We went with his firm because of the reviews on Ungues list, and because he was very accommodating.  He called me to notify me when he and his crew wee coming out to the property, and notified the tenants while he was on-site.  They finished quickly, but did not install on the balcony.  I called him back, and he was able to replace the roofing on the balcony without additional cost, by omitting the new gutters and correcting/ repairing the ones that were already there.
I primarily dealt with Ralph, although I did speak to Tony once.  I was very impressed with the workmanship, punctuality and competitive pricing, and would definitely hire them again.
In fact, we are considering hiring this company for another job that involves a complete renovation, not just roofing."

Siding questions, answered by experts

The cost to install or replace brick or stone siding generally ranges from $10 to $50 per square foot. The final price depends on several factors, including the specific material type, local labor rates, and any necessary preparation work, such as removing old siding. For example, different types of stone have varying costs per square foot: natural stone ($4.50–$35), stone veneer ($11–$13), faux stone ($6–$9), and cultured or manufactured stone ($5–$8).

Increasing home value and return on investment (ROI) are two different things and it’s important to differentiate between the two. While a kitchen remodel will surely raise the value of the house, it may only have an ROI of around 50%. Homeowners looking to raise the value of their home for sale will have to consider how much they will recoup by the monetary investment in projects, as the ROI percentages may be lower or higher than the added value on a dollar-for-dollar basis.

There should be small gaps between your roof and the walls of your home, and other buildings. These small gaps let building materials shift, expand, and contract with weather and other outside forces, and they prevent moisture from wicking down walls from roofing and gutter systems. Without these strategic gaps, your home’s exterior and its finishes can sustain water damage, decay, peel, delaminate, and crack. However, there is a fine line between a smart gap and a problematic gap—all  gaps should be small, intentional, and covered or filled in with foam insulation to prevent pests from using them as access points.

You may only need to repaint fiber cement siding every decade or so, but you should clean it every six to 12 months, depending on your local climate. First, wash with a garden hose or similar low-pressure device (not a high-pressure washer, which can damage the material) to remove dirt and any large debris. Then, gently wipe down the surface with a soft brush or cloth in a side-to-side motion, following the grain of the fiber cement.

Though vinyl siding is affordable, the material may not last as long or look as good as other siding materials. For example, wood siding has a beautiful, natural appearance but requires much more maintenance to keep your siding looking as good as new.

Fiber cement siding is another alternative that mimics the appearance of wood siding. Like vinyl siding, fiber cement is a low-maintenance material, but it does come at a higher price and is heavier and more difficult to install. Weigh the pros and cons of all siding materials before you decide on the best option for your home.
