"I recently had a fantastic experience with Nick from DB’s Plumbing & Drain for a leaking pipe issue in my home. From start to finish, their service was exceptional! DB’s team was prompt, courteous, and professional. They arrived on time, assessed the problem quickly, and explained the repair process in a way that was easy to understand. The plumber worked efficiently, fixing the leak with high-quality materials, and even took the time to check for other potential issues to prevent future problems. The pricing was fair, and there were no hidden fees. I am so grateful for their expertise and attention to detail. I highly recommend DB’s to anyone needing reliable plumbing services!"

"I found water on the floor of my basement! Horrors! I got 3 estimates and chose T.QEXCAVATION.Plumbing to do the fix. I liked the work ethic of Terence, the owner who was the guy who did the job. He kept me informed of what was happening and how the project was going, turned the water on when he could and off when he needed to so I had water off and on instead of not which meant the world to me. The job is done, I'm happy with the result and would recommend T.QEXCAVATION.PLUMBING to anyone in need of any kind of plumbing job. He is my plumber from now on."

"All of the people who worked on this project were excellent. My main contact was with Geary Powell who prepared the estimate, coordinated with WSSC, answered all of my questions and kept in touch with me every step of the way. All of the guys who did the work knew what they were doing and did it well. Especially the guys who replaced several plumbing fixtures and valves inside my house. Lastly, the pricing was very competitive and fair. A good value for the work done."

"These folks are professional, polite and highly skilled. Replaced 80 feet of sewer line in 6 hours from start to finish. You understand the cost when you see how many people and how much equipment it takes to get it right. I wouldn't hire anyone else. Note: the homeowner is his/her own best advocate if your job requires a VDOT permit. Make your case via email to VDOT's permit email address, and you'll get a swift reply if you need replacement service in a real hurry."

"First rate emergency replacement of a burst residential main water pipe in the front yard. Nate provided a very competitive bid and highly competent service to complete work in a very short period of time. Surface disturbance was minimal and cleaned up on project completion. County inspections passed flawlessly. No reservations in recommending Clearwater Plumbing & Repair, Inc., to meet the plumbing repair needs of HomeAdvisor subscribers."

"Excellent experience. They were willing to install a unit I purchased from Home Depot. They picked up the unit from the store, removed the old one, and install the new one in just about 2 hours. And they literally charged me half of what other plumbers were quoting me. Outstanding."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

To avoid a major drainage pipe issue, it’s best to inspect your pipes a few times a year for signs of wear and tear. Some telltale signs that you need to replace your drainage pipes include:

  • Leaks

  • Rust

  • Musty smells

  • Mold or mildew on walls

  • Moisture stains on walls or ceilings

  • Flaking or discolored pipes

  • Frequent clogs or backups

Adding a shower to a half bath transforms it into a three-quarter bath. Compared to converting a half bath into a full bath, this type of conversion is a more affordable way to add functionality and accessibility. This project can add around 5% to 6% to the value of your home, especially if you only have one full bathroom or your only shower is on an upper level. This is a common upgrade for a ground floor when homeowners are hoping to age in place.

Yes, a bigger well pump can increase water pressure—up to a point. If you currently have a well pump of 8 GPM, you might notice a pressure boost when you go up to 10 GPM. However, overshooting significantly (going up to 15 GPM for an 8 GPM home) can strain your well system and result in things like burst pipes that can decrease your water pressure and make for costly repairs.

Yes, it’s possible to cap a gas line yourself if you’re no longer using it or are simply going out of town for an extended period of time. It’s essential to follow the steps on properly capping a gas line yourself. If you’re uncomfortable with any of the steps, you may want to bring in a natural gas plumber for added reassurance.

You can use a water gauge to check that water pressure, which should be between 40 and 60 PSI. If you don’t have a water gauge, you can also time how long your showerhead takes to fill up a 1-liter container. If it takes longer than 6 seconds, you’re dealing with a case of low water pressure.
