"From Hunter Taylor, the Sales Consultant to customer service and the team that did the actual new roof all were great. They took the anxiety of have a new roof put on my townehouse at ease. The crew was on time and had enough workers to complete the work in one day and kept me aware of any extra needed work to do. They cleaned up the whole area so no nails were left behind and the pricing was exactly what I planned for. N. Ryan"

"They were very responsive to my phone call, promptly went out to look at the roof and gave me a reasonable price. Some roofers would not return my call, others said it would take a month to get to the work. Andre at Springfield was flexible with me and responded to my texts and calls incredibly promptly. He acted like he wanted and valued my business. I would definitely use them to replace the entire set of roof shingles in a couple years."

"They are an excellent and reliable company. We have used them to replace siding on our house, to install triple glass sliding doors, and most recently they replaced our roof. Highly recommend."

"Anthony does excellent work, very thorough. Have used him twice, once to repair my portico flat roof. Then re-hired him to find and repair a leak on my roof. I would recommend Burns Contracting for roof repairs."

"They did an excellent job on our roof & siding and shutters--on time, on budget/estimate, and the whole crew was extremely professional & efficient. They did such a great job that I recommended them to my son who also needed a new roof, gutters & soffit and he was equally impressed. Top notch team/highly recommend."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, Energy Star roofs are one of the best types of roofs for cost efficiency. They can reduce your peak cooling demand by anywhere from 10% to 15%.

Common problems include loose or missing shingles, leaks, and weather damage. Regular inspections help prevent major repairs.

The number of roof vents necessary for a 2,000-square-foot house depends on several factors. The calculation depends on the net free area within the attic and whether your municipality requires a 1/150 or a 1/300 ratio of venting square feet to attic square feet. If you install vents with a square-foot opening of one, you'll need either 14 or seven exhaust vents and an equal square-foot amount of intake vents.

It’s the reverse of home de-winterization. To winterize, you purge your plumbing system (including your water heater and all piping) of water. Some experts also recommend filling fixtures with an antifreeze solution. Other tasks involve winterizing sprinklers, sealing foundation vents, check weatherproofing around doors and windows, and more.

The roof pitch on a Cape Cod house is normally 8/12 or 10/12, meaning the roof rises 8 to 10 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run. This is steeper than the now-standard 6/12 pitch, as Cape Cod homes were originally popular in northern states, where the steeper pitch helped snowfall slide readily off the roof.
