"I love the customer service of this company. JJ our technician, was professional, provided thorough description of the issues and options for fixing them without pressure. He explained how the 40+ yr old power panel was in need of replacement - we had no universal switch to cut power to our home in an emergency. JJ walked us through options and provided cost estimates as well."

"DB Plumbing did a very thorough job investigating our sewer line issues via camera, explaining what they (and we) were seeing on the camera and providing a video so we could evaluate solutions and provide images to our insurance company.
Dave and his team were very competent and knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions in great detail. They even took the time to figure out the unusual path in which our sewer line is lying under the house to the street using a satellite-linked camera and locator device (not sure how to describe it but it is pretty cool). They gave a clear diagnosis and recommendations, along with specific and clear pricing.
We would trust DB Plumbing for future projects. We would recommend them to family and friends (and have).

"I had solar panels installed by SunPower's subcontractor Hooked on Solar in 2020. In 2023 some of the panels were damaged by an electrical outage and surge. It took about 4 months for Hooked on Solar to identify the damaged panels, schedule an appointment to replacement, but finally they fixed the panels."

"Nova Solar did a fantastic job from contract signing to installation and follow-up. They were very responsive to questions and answered very promptly. Installation was done in one day and their cleanup was the best of any company I have used the past. In fact, they cleaned up some of the things missed by the roofing company who installed a new roof the day before their installation. If you are thinking of going solar, I highly recommend this company..."

Solar Panels questions, answered by experts

The best way to save money on solar panels is to take advantage of federal and state solar incentives. For example, the solar investment tax credit (ITC) offered by the federal government can save 30% of your total—if you can take the entire credit, which is based on income taxes owed—or an average of around $9,000. You can check the Database of State Incentives for Renewables and Efficiency (DSIRE) for state and local incentives that could save you even more.

In most cases, yes, solar panels are well worth the investment. Going solar with your home’s energy is expensive, but, in most states, the panels will pay for themselves by reducing your electric bills. Solar panels don’t produce greenhouse gasses or other pollutants, meaning you can feel good about using this renewable energy source to power your home. Plus, installing solar panels can boost your home value, helping your profit off your next home sale.

Yes, it is possible to install solar panels on a tar and gravel roof, but it is not the ideal roofing material for a solar installation. The process requires roof penetrations to install the solar racking system. While installers will seal these penetrations, they still increase the risk of leaks. This risk is higher on tar and gravel roofs, which are often flat. Flat roofs are more prone to leaks than sloped roofs because they can pool water during heavy rain and hold snow for longer periods, exposing the roof to more moisture.

You shouldn’t hook up a solar panel directly to a battery. That can damage the solar battery and your appliances over time. Instead, install a charge controller between your solar panel and solar battery. Charge controllers regulate voltage, prevent overcharging, and minimize the amount of electrical current to protect your battery from voltage spikes.

Although solar panels harness the sun's power, they come at an environmental cost. The manufacturing process requires large amounts of water and involves hazardous materials like cadmium, silicon, and gallium arsenide. These materials don’t pose safety hazards while the panels are in use but can pose a problem when left in landfills. Over time, hazardous materials can leach into the environment. This is why recycling solar panels whenever possible is better than taking them to landfills.
