"I was extremely impressed with the very fine service I recieved from J.E.S. Foundation Repair, Salem, Va. They installed a French drain behind my house and across a portion of my yard in Oct. 2021. They were very professional and courteous from the rep they sent to assess the situation to the very efficient appointment updates as to when they would start the job. The crew called ahead when they were on the way and arrived right on time and also finished the job on time. Names of the crew as follows: Forman : Nathan Patterson and Calvin Coffee Co-Formen : Luke Morris, James Spencer, and Joseph Reid Installer : Antonius " Venom " Campbell All very respectful , efficient, and courteous workers and were very carefull not to damage my property as they worked."

"This was a great experience.  Jeff Dame, the owner, was not immediately available to do the work but followed up about a month after my initial call.  He and his crew then came out a couple of days later and worked all week tearing down an old concrete retaining wall and rebuilding it.  In doing so, they had to dismantle an old fence and fight their way through brush, roots, and a huge ancient rose bush.  The crew was always friendly and polite - they even helped my daughter carry some heavy boxes into the house during a couple of their breaks.
Jeff proposed moving the driveway gate, which had become nearly unusable because of the slant of the old retaining wall.  The new placement puts it out of the path of the retaining wall and away from the guttering at the corner of the house.  He also redesigned the gate to make it easier to open and more stable.
The finished wall and gate are both distinct improvements over the original designs.  The retaining wall is now a solid, reinforced structure that should not develop a slant over the years.  Jeff even put a facing on the wall to make it more attractive, rather than the bare concrete of the old wall.  I had envisioned just a basic replacement, but Jeff exceeded my expectations and kept everything within budget.  He and his crew also cleaned everything up well at the end of the job.
I would recommend J&D Masonry and Jeff Dame, and would gladly hire him again.

French Drains questions, answered by experts

Usually it’s fine to leave a toilet clogged overnight, as long as it’s not close to overflowing. In some cases, the extra time may give the clog time to work itself out. For example, if it’s caused by an excess of toilet paper, letting it sit could result in the clog dissolving and you may be able to simply flush it away by the time you wake up.

Only let it sit though if you have more than one toilet in the home.

While you don’t have to run out and immediately buy a new toilet at the first sign of a clog, if the toilet keeps clogging because it’s a low-flow or poorly designed model, a new toilet may be the way to go. If your toilet keeps clogging, you can try using less toilet paper, adjusting the fill valve, checking the toilet vent pipe on the roof, and using a toilet auger to make sure nothing is stuck in the pipe or trap.

You should flush your AC drain line once every three months to keep it clear of debris and buildup. Keeping your AC drain line clean prevents clogs, backups, mold growth, and extra wear on your AC unit. If you live in a humid area or have several furry pets, up your cleaning schedule to once a month.

In most areas, drain cleaning professionals don’t technically need a license, as they aren’t altering your plumbing system in any way. However, we recommend hiring a drain cleaning professional with a plumbing license and certification. Certified plumbers are more likely to provide professional solutions to drain clogs without damaging your system. They’ll also have the diagnostic tools and experience necessary to remove the clog entirely rather than providing a temporary solution, as a handyperson might. Use Angi’s state licensing tool to check your plumber’s professional licenses before hiring.

Yes—your local septic company can clean your septic leach lines with a sewer jetter, a device that pumps high-pressure water through the lines to blast out any clogs and scum buildup. Unless there’s a clog or blockage in the lines, however, you do not need to perform this maintenance regularly. Do not attempt to clean your own leach lines, as you could easily damage them, leading to very costly repairs.
