"We heard of all service moving from a family members’ recommendation. Move went very smoothly! Nathaniel, SeaBass and Dominic really took care of our furniture, everything was neatly wrapped up so nothing would get damaged. Would hire again!"

"Fantastic. I paid hourly for two guys, with an extra helper added for free. It turned out that the piano was so heavy that they needed to call in one of the managers to help out as well. They padded all items and wrapped them in plastic for the move. As I had extra moving blankets in my garage I simply gave those to them and kept the padding and plastic wrap for storage (tip: buy moving blankets at Harbor Freight). The guys were very professional and accomodating. Even helped me with lifting a couch from the house into the garage and getting the door back on its hinges. Highly recommended, and I use moving companies a lot as I deal in rental properties. Never found a company that I wanted to repeat hire, until now."

"Workers were polite and respectful, but amateurs compared to other movers I have worked with in the past. Past movers have easily moved files and dressers without removing drawers, for example, while these movers removed all drawers and left them out once delivered to the new location. Speed and efficiency was also somewhat lower than others I have worked with. They were adequately careful with items and nothing was significantly damaged."

"A Stand-Up Job!!!! Oh my goodness what a stellar job this company provided to my family!!!! A member of their leadership came to our home for an initial walkthrough and another member of their management team came during the move to ensure that the guys were providing quality service. The Movers arrived on time and the company was transparent in their communication throughout the whole entire process. Even though they had quite a few guys working, they kept the noise level to a minimum and there was no inappropriate language. Truly professional. They took great care of our furniture, ensuring to wrap-it, protect and use the best moving equipment for ease from beginning to end. The team also had a great rapport among each other which speaks volumes to the culture of this organization. I would recommend Kellogg Movers, time and time again. Thank you!"

"They came in for 2 different days with 2 different crews. They worked hard, and were very forthcoming when offering to help me move furniture around within the house."

Moving questions, answered by experts

If you don’t have dividers, wrap each wine glass individually using bubble wrap or packing paper to cushion both the bowl and delicate stem. Secure the wrapping with tape and place glasses upright in a sturdy box, layering soft items like dish towels, crumpled paper, or clothing between them to prevent shifting. Fill any gaps with padding to keep glasses snug, and label the box “FRAGILE–HANDLE WITH CARE” to ensure careful handling.

There are different types of moving companies, and you’ll want to look for one that has experience moving houses. Ask them how many houses they’ve moved, how long they’ve been in business, whether they coordinate all of the labor, permits, and subcontractors needed, and what their liability is for any damages incurred.

Yes, it is cheaper to move yourself than to hire professional movers. The average DIY move costs $120 to $2,300, while professionals cost $890 to $2,570 on average or up to $12,000 for the longest distances. While you’ll save on the cost of professional labor with a DIY move, you’ll spend more time and energy packing, loading, transporting, unloading, and unpacking.

Yes, movers will usually move one item like a gas grill—but your propane tank must be empty if you want them to move it. If you still have propane, you’ll need to either transport it yourself or dispose of it properly and purchase a new one after the move.

Before hiring a moving company to help you with your move, there are a few things you will want to ask, including:

  • Is there anything your company won’t move?

  • Does workers’ compensation cover the crew?

  • Will you disassemble and reassemble the furniture?

  • Are there packing restrictions?

  • Can you guarantee my delivery date?

  • Can you provide references?

  • What do you charge extra for?

  • What is your cancellation policy?
