When the plumbers arrived, they quoted $550 to install the new faucet set. This was way too high so I asked if they could simply replace the Moen cartridge and ensure no leaks. They said yes and would call me back with details. They called back and said it would be $226 to replace the cartridge. I knew the part was $22 from Home Depot so I asked why it would be so high. They began listing charges such as "service call fee (their shop is only 4 miles away)", "labor" "water shutoff fee" and "parts". I have never heard of a plumber charging "water shutoff" fee. I mean they are plumbers, that is what they do. That is like a truck driver charging a "steering fee". As I was out of town and we needed the shower operational, I authorized the repairs. I do not think that a repair should be nine-times the cost of the part. I do not believe I will be using Heaton again.
