"Moving is such a stressful experience. I had to reschedule the moving dates a couple of times and James was able to accommodate me with no problem. I was actually running late in moving day, but the crew was understanding and told me they'd take care of everything-and they did. All my items were moved quickly and arrived damage free. The price was extremely reasonable! If you are moving and need honest, professional movers, I highly recommend Ramos Moving!"

"We just completely remodeled our home and I was extremely nervous about things getting banged up. We scheduled our move and Cody, Jude and Austin showed up earlier than scheduled. That was wonderful. They greeted me and shook my hand and told me their names. Another plus. Then they started working and we’re extremely polite. When I had something I needed moved to another area, they were Never put out. We had some really heavy furniture, Jude and Cody were amazing. They were extremely respectful of our new home and didn’t leave a mark on any walls. I highly recommend these guys and this company. We would definitely higher them again."

"Miguel and his crew were very punctual and professional. They did a terrific job of moving all my sons furniture from our home to his new apartment. They worked very hard and completed the move with time to spare. Last year we used All-Some Movers to move our daughter from her apartment to her new home and we were very pleased with the service we received then, as well. Darlene was a delight to work with in getting everything set up. We would highly recommend!"

"Our workshop tools and other garage items were in a storage unit, and we wanted them moved to our home. The company knew the size and weight of some of this machinery and thought the 2 men could handle the items. Perhaps they could if the truck they used had a lift, but it didn't. So the 2 men, plus my husband had to lift the very heavy items into the truck. The move had to be rescheduled from the original date because their only working truck had mechanical problems. We had taken the day off from work to coordinate this move, and had to take another day off to do the actual move. It all got done, but with great effort and stress. When the movers were done an additional fee was asked for because the men had gone over their 2 hours, mostly because they were under prepared for the move. After a conversation with someone on the phone in their office, they finally agreed to the $99, which had already been paid by credit card up front.
It was a sloppy, ill-prepared move and we would not use this company again.

2/24/14 Update
I received a call from the owner Stephane today. He responded to my review and was truly interested in righting the situation. We both learned from this move, and I appreciate his cooperation. He offered to assist with any moving needs we might have. Based on Stephane's professionalism and genuine desire to please, I would use this company in the future and have changed my grading.

"Although they did show up 30 minutes late, the clock for work didn't  begin until after they actually got a look at the job to be done and started moving everything. Chris ran crew very professionally, directing them while working along side them. He would catch and correct near mistakes (wall! left corner! fingers! etc )  so quickly which kept his crew safe and all of our belongings intact. Well, almost all. We were disappointed when a large office desk was dropped but we were equally impressed with Chris' handling of the situation. One thing to note was that looks are deceiving. We expected large, bulky, muscled men to show up to move our items which included an extremely heavy safe. The crew was of average size except the crew leader Chris. He's truly super model thin but when I say SUPER HUMAN  strong, I am not kidding!!!  Holy Wow! That safe I mentioned, yeah he basically pulled it up the ramp onto the truck BY HIMSELF. I am not exaggerating. My husband still tells people about "the amazing skinny mover". Not only would we recommend them but if we ever have to move again we will use New Caney Movers and request skinny Chris!

"They came to our home and gave us a quote We thought they were very professional and liked their quote. They told us we would need 2 trucks and about 5 hours to load. The workers that came to move us were very nice young men. I didn't have a problem with them. The problem was we ended up needing 3 trucks (barely) and ended up paying $1500.00 more than the original quote because of the 3rd truck and they charge by the hour. I felt like they totally under estimated how much time it would take to load and unload. The men that were here were moving as fast as they could but I feel they were totally not reasonable when they gave us our quote. I was trusting they knew what they were doing. Had we known this, we might have chosen a different moving company. I felt we were lied to on the quote to get our business. Just be careful when paying by the hour and make sure they are giving you a reasonable quote."

Piano Moving questions, answered by experts

Professionals can provide comprehensive planning, logistical support, packing services, and clear communication to minimize moving stress. Their experience allows for efficient handling of belongings, ensuring a seamless and organized transition to a new location.

The average cost to hire professional movers is approximately $1,700, but the total price can range from as low as $920 to over $12,000 depending on the move's complexity. For local moves, typically under 100 miles, costs generally fall between $920 and $2,530. Long-distance moves are more expensive, with prices ranging from $2,700 to $10,000 or more.

Several key factors influence the final cost:

  • Distance and Home Size: The mileage of the move and the size of your home.

  • Number of Movers: Hourly rates can range from $25 to $50 for one or two movers, increasing to $100 to $200 for a team of four or more.

  • Services: Additional services like packing, unpacking, and storage will add to the cost.

  • Specialty Items: Moving large or delicate items such as pianos, vehicles, or large aquariums incurs extra charges.

  • Timing and Access: The time of year, your specific moving date, and the ease of access to your home can affect rates.

Don’t forget to account for other potential costs like moving supplies and tipping your movers.

To prepare for moving a piano, start by documenting its current condition with photos in case of any damage during the move. Secure the piano's lid and wrap the instrument, including its keys and pedals, with bubble wrap and moving blankets for protection. Note that if you have hired professional piano movers, they may handle this step for you.

Next, prepare the space. Measure any tight spaces or doorways to ensure the piano will fit through. Clear a wide path from the piano's location to the exterior door, removing any furniture or obstacles. It is also helpful to prop open doors to make the exit easier.

On moving day, ensure the moving truck can park as close to the exit as possible. For safety, keep children and pets away from the moving area to prevent accidents or distractions.

Moving a washer and dryer can be difficult due to the appliances’ weight and size. If you need to move these appliances up or down stairs, then it will be more challenging. It also depends on the type of dryer you have, as a gas dryer is more complicated to disconnect than an electric dryer. The difficulty of the task also depends on whether you’re easily wheeling the washer and dryer up a moving truck’s loading ramp or lifting them yourself.

Yes, many office moving costs are tax deductible, but only businesses are eligible to deduct moving expenses on their taxes. Personal moves, such as relocating for a new job or moving from an apartment to a house, are not deductible.

However, not all business taxes are deductible by that business. Deductible business moving expenses are limited to the direct costs associated with relocating office supplies and equipment. This process encompasses brokerage fees for securing a new location, space surveys, packing, loading, transportation, and unpacking. Costs related to moving employees or other indirect expenses are not eligible for tax deductions.
