"Right before my warranty expired the bathtub I had refinished started peeling on the area in front of the tub. When I called to get it fixed the office that did the original job was redistricted and would not service me so there was some back and forth with the new location in my service area taking responsibility for the repair. They finally agreed to do the repair but never completed it. The area they fixed was patched but never repainted to match the rest of the tub so it now looks white in some area's but a dingy gray on the patched area and now my warranty has expired."

Building codes typically require handrails if your porch is 30” or more off the ground. However, it's important to check your local regulations and building codes to make sure, as this can differ depending on your location. The general rule of thumb is that posts should be no more than 6 feet apart when calculating railing post spacing. The purpose of a deck or staircase railing system is to provide safety and support. For this support, the more posts the system has, the sturdier it’ll be. However, local municipal building codes always take precedence.

Space deck handrail posts four to six feet apart. If the posts are more than six feet apart, the railing will be less able to withstand lateral forces and is more susceptible to breaking. Additionally, railing posts that are more than six feet apart may not be up to code, and you may face fines and be required to reinstall the posts to bring them up to code.

Building codes require deck railing spindles or balusters to be spaced no more than four inches apart. This is to prevent small children or pets from slipping between the railings and falling off the deck. For the same reason, the railings must also be no more than four inches from the deck floor.
