"Saturday afternoon and I realized my home was not cool. The thermostat was 83 and climbing. I was able to contact A-Anderson HVAC and electrical. They were at my house in less than an hour and less than an hour later my AC was cooling. Dylan stayed long enough to check the air temperature coming out of the vents. He was very friendly, thorough, knowledgeable . Everyone from phone to personal service was great. The price was also in my expected range. I highly recommend this company."

"Not only is David highly skilled in resolving HVAC issues, but he was a pleasure to work with and taught me a lot! He was punctual, communicative and patient, taking the time to explain what the issues were (in plain English), and in the end solved my A/C problems much faster AND cheaper than the so called “best in town” HVAC company I was working with. Highly recommend, and will be calling him back again!"

"Everything went great. They were professional. They sent a video introducing who would be doing the work. They assessed the problems, gave me a fair quote & I had the whole HVAC system replaced! Excellent job. Tomorrow the owner will come and explain everything to me again & I will download the thermostat app and complete the transaction $$"

"Climate Doctors were very punctual and professional. The Angie's List deal I purchased did not cover enough registers for both of my HVAC units, and they kindly allowed me to purchase an additional deal to cover the remaining registers. I far as I can tell they did a thorough job. That being said I was not given any information as to the before/after condition of my HVAC ducts, and I cannot tell any difference in the air quality in my home. It would have been nice to have gotten a better evaluation from the technician (pictures etc.) to make me feel like I wasn't wasting money. Also the Angie's List deal included a free energy audit which was never even mentioned by either of the technicians. I would use them again had I been given a better evaluation of the work performed, but the experience left me feeling that duct cleaning, in general, is a waste of time and money.

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

No, for two very important reasons. First, it’s illegal to release refrigerant into the air or ground since it can be toxic and cause environmental damage. Technicians typically pump old or extra refrigerant into separate tanks for special disposal. Second, without professional equipment to read refrigerant pressure and levels, plus the AC’s suggested requirements, it’s impossible to know if you’ve removed the right amount of refrigerant. Stay away from a DIY solution here and seek an expert with the right tools.

A few drips here and there should not be cause for concern, but if your unit is leaking a large amount of water, then it’s advised that you stop using it until the problem is identified and a solution is determined. The more you use it during a leak, the more issues it will cause.

Most AC repair technicians will take between two and six hours to carry out repairs, depending on the work needed and the accessibility of the unit. For example, recharging refrigerant lines should take one to two hours to service, while replacing a compressor, blower fan, or other major components can take five to eight hours. You can ask your AC repair technician how long they expect the job to take, but just in case, you should plan on being home and available for most of the day.

You should know the main components of an air conditioner: the condenser coils, evaporator coils, drip pan, AC filter, ducts, and refrigerant. Each part plays a key role in the performance and safety of your AC system. When tracking the source of AC issues or odors, it helps to know where to look. Your outdoor unit houses your condenser coils, fan, and compressor. Your indoor unit houses your evaporator coils, drain lines, and filter, and it connects to your ductwork.

Most experts recommend getting three to five HVAC quotes from licensed, insured, reputable local heating and cooling companies. Getting multiple detailed HVAC quotes (but not too many) lets you compare the equipment, services, and prices of several contractors without being overwhelmed by options. It can also let you see if one contractor’s prices are much higher or lower than the others and give you a chance to ask for clarification. That way, you can weed out any contractors who aren’t providing quality services or materials and find the company that best meets your budget, quality requirements, and long-term goals.
