They were at my house in less than an hour and less than an hour later my AC was cooling. Dylan stayed long enough to check the air temperature coming out of the vents. "Chaz called to confirm I was home and let me know he was on his way around the agreed upon appointment time.  He checked over the AC unit, asking me questions about its service history and if I had any concerns.  He patiently explained what he was checking and why as he worked.  He was knowledgeable and friendly, and due to the age of my unit he enumerated the various things to consider when the time comes to replace it with a new unit. 
He discovered the unit was a little low on freeon and at my request topped it off which ended up taking about a pound of refrigerant.  He explained that due to government restrictions on the production of new R22 the cost had gone up substantially.  He also covered the symptoms and eventual consequences of running the unit while it was low on refrigerant, although he doubted I would experience any problems running only a pound short.  One interesting bit of info was that new systems utilize high and low pressure switches like automotive AC systems, so if the system gets too low on refrigerant it will turn off before the compressor goes into overload and potentially suffers damage as a consequence.
