"Had some switches repaired , ground rod installed and general overview of electrical system of home I had purchased. That work was done efficiently. The smoke and carbon detectors were replaced and the charge for them was excessive- my mistake for not checking prices elsewhere- one of them malfunctioned, and they were prompt to come out and replace it at no charge under warranty coverage."

"I had the unpleasant job of finding an electrical company to replace my old electrical panel. A company that would be professional and quote a fair price. I first interviewed an electrician that was really nice but his experience was more towards outdoor lighting. Then I called Electric Man and Alex answered promptly. She put me at ease about the whole procedure and scheduled a next day appointment with Daniel. One of the first things I realized was that Daniel really loved his job and his company. This is his passion job and he proved it when he describe the exact procedure. After he gave me an extremely fair quote, I didn’t interview another contractor. I knew he would do me right. I contacted Oncor for temporary shut off/on, which can be very stressful in itself, not knowing if they will come through or not. Then I called the Electric Man to confirm the cut off. The project manager told me not to worry about another thing, they would coordinate the city permit, the temp. disconnect/reconnect with Oncor, and complete installation of the new panel. Music to my ears! Both Daniel and Mario arrived promptly and tirelessly worked the entire day to complete the work. Our electricity came back on at 3:30pm on one of the coldest days. Bottom line: Everything they promised, big or small, happened. They are a well oiled machine and also a delight to be around. (Even my skeptic husband cottoned to them right away and he’s an engineer ?) I will never hire any other company or contractor to fix any electrical needs. They are completely trustworthy with a big bonus of having a very knowledgeable person answer the phone, totally prepared to answer any questions."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Plano, address urgent issues like sparking outlets, burning odors, or persistent breaker trips right away to prevent hazards. Schedule upgrades for outdated panels or missing GFCI outlets within six months. Projects such as adding circuits or surge protection can be planned for the next year. For comfort, consider timing major electrical work in spring or fall to avoid peak heat and weather disruptions.

Helpful?

If your Plano home was built before 1980, has limited outlets, or you notice frequent breaker trips, it’s likely time for electrical upgrades. Signs like flickering lights, warm outlets, or heavy use of extension cords indicate your system may be outdated. Homes with pools, spas, or high-powered appliances also benefit from increased electrical capacity and modern safety features to support today’s technology.

Helpful?

Electrical projects in Plano can temporarily impact systems like HVAC, security, or internet. For example, panel upgrades may require shutting off power, affecting heating, cooling, and connected devices. Installing new circuits could mean brief disruptions to smart home features or security systems. If work involves bathrooms or pools, plumbing or filtration systems might also be affected, so coordination with professionals helps minimize inconvenience.

Helpful?

In Plano, homeowners are prioritizing smart home integration, including programmable lighting controls, motion-sensor switches, and energy-efficient upgrades like LED recessed fixtures. There’s growing interest in EV charging station installations and whole-house surge protection for added peace of mind. Outdoor living spaces are enhanced with weather-resistant landscape lighting, while under-cabinet lighting and USB outlets offer both convenience and a modern touch for daily living.

Helpful?

In TX, regular electrical system maintenance is essential due to heat and storm exposure. Test GFCI outlets monthly, inspect outdoor lighting every season, and schedule a professional panel check once a year. After major storms, check outdoor enclosures for moisture or damage. Keep outdoor electrical equipment clear of debris twice a year, and replace surge protectors every few years to maintain energy efficiency and safety.
