"Excellent job by the Rodriguez Tile Company. The boss advised me on my best options and executed the installation wonderfully. We encountered some unexpected challenges that added some time to my job but the team worked professionally and creatively to achieve a spectacular result. We have beautiful porcelain tile and I’m thankful. (We hired this team for the floor tile after they completed an exquisite backsplash for us.)"

"Tony is a master when it comes to tile. He repaired a bunch of poorly installed tile in our house and installed a bunch of new tile. We wish we’d hired him first. Tony is on time, fair, and good with communication. We 100% recommend Tony!"

"Val and his crew did an amazing job. Ramon is a perfectionist when it comes to laying the tile and Val kept us in the loop on what was needed and time line. The whole experience was worth the mess of remodel."

Customers say: True professional

"Isaac Martinez did a wonderful job repairing my tile floor and raising the shower door. I met him prior to the job being done and he explained what he was going to do the pricing and everything. He was very punctual and professional. I was very, very happy with the work that he did for me. I would definitely recommend him and his company!!"

Small jobs welcome

"As a preface to this review John and his team at Floor Coverings International has previously done the tile in our entre home. When we bought our house, we knew many projects would need to be completed, and one of the first was our flooring! We unfortunately met John after another contractor had performed a subpar job. John and his team swiftly came in, removed all of the bad tile and material, and laid the new tile with meticulous and fantastic workmanship. There was no doubt when it came time to have our master shower done that John would be the first to call! Within 3 days his team removed our old 80s/90s 4x4 white tiles, the shower pan, replaced our plumbing, framed us a shampoo nook, and completed the job! They were courteous to the fact that our personal belongings were still present by covering our things, and cleaning up after themselves. He assisted us in picking out the perfect tile to complement our style, and budget. This team is worth every penny. We look forward to keeping Floor Coverings International on speed dial for our future personal homes, and investment properties. I have taken the liberty in posting before, during, and after photos. Thank you all!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.

If you’re out of spacers for your tile installation, you can use pennies. Each time you place a tile, stick the pennies around the edges (on the sides and the corners). Like working with spacers, you’ll want the same amount of space around each tile before they set.

DIY is possible for small projects. Professional services ensure precision and long-lasting results.

Tile removal costs about $2 to $7 per square foot unless you do it yourself. When you hire a pro, tile installation costs $5 to $45 per square foot. Costs vary widely, but they depend on the tile material (custom-made stone tiles cost significantly more than plain ceramic tile), location, and tile size.

For professional labor and materials, it would cost between $6,000 and $28,000 to install 1,000 square feet of Saltillo tile flooring. If that’s out of your budget, you could consider laying the tiles yourself or choosing a less expensive type of flooring. For example, vinyl flooring costs just $2 to $7 per square foot, so for a 1,000-square-foot space, you’d pay $2,000 to $7,000.
