"We hired Aggieland Carpet One to replace the carpet. We were so impressed with them, from the store, to the salesperson, to the installers. Everyone was so friendly and personable. The salesperson, Miriam, came to our house with several samples and helped us choose the color and style. She was so knowledgeable and knew what we wanted, even when we didn't. The installers came exactly on time and finished the job in 1 1/2 hours. We highly recommend this company!"

"I evaluated at least 10 contractors before choosing CJM Custom Homes. Four of them were from Angie?s List.  I narrowed it down to two, which made for a hard decision. Both contractors had good ideas. One was less expensive, and the other seemed to be more personable. I chose CJM, and I now know I made the right decision.  The owner, Jarrett Spence, is the most personable contractor I have every met.  He comes up with great ideas and has a lot of knowledge in all areas of the the business.  Not only is he able to get his subcontractors to do excellent work, but he is very thorough in checking their quality and insists that everything is done perfectly. On the occasions that subcontractor?s work was not up to his standards, he made them correct mistakes that even I could not detect. He pays a lot of attention to details.  In addition to being very professional at what he does, Jarrett is also very easy to deal with. He listened to all my ideas, considered them thoroughly, then gave me honest feedback on what would work best. I am extremely happy about how great my house looks because of his unique remodeling style.  My house did not cost a million dollars, but it sure looks like it now, after the fantastic job done by CJM Custom Homes.  Jarrett and his crews transformed my house to a beautiful home.  The project started out as a conversion of two attic spaces into extra bedrooms.  I was so pleased with the work that I continued to remodel most of my house.  Jarrett was very good about allowing me to add on to my original remodeling project without charging me extra fees for changing my contract.  I ended up remodeling a bathroom, remodeling several more rooms and bathrooms, added an additional bathroom, remodeled my kitchen, replaced carpet, installed recessed lighting in all upstairs rooms and updating my utility room.  Jarrett went above and beyond the call of duty and installed new utilities.  He is very trustworthy.  His subcontractors are also very professional and friendly. They always cleaned up after finishing their work, every time they came to my house.  I should note that I am a very particular customer, with high demands.  I can tell you that Jarrett accommodated all my demands. He was a little bit more expense then the other contractor that I was looking at, but in the long run he was worth the extra money.  I am very pleased with the remodeling job that CJM Custom Homes has done.  I highly recommend CJM Custom homes to anyone who is thinking of remodeling their home.  Thank you, Angie?s List, for helping me find a great contractor!

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to walk on a clay tile roof, but you run the risk of breaking or cracking the tiles if you’re not careful, so it’s best not to walk on it if you can avoid it. If you or a contractor needs roof access, be sure to distribute your weight evenly and step on the portions of tile that are also supported underneath, which depends on your tile design. Walking on any roofing material is inherently dangerous, so wear rubber-soled shoes and use safety equipment if you need to access your roof.

Porcelain tiles can last 60 years or longer. With high-quality tiles and proper installation, your porcelain tiles may even outlive you, making them well worth the initial investment.

To help your porcelain tiles last longer, you should clean and maintain them regularly. You don’t need any harsh chemicals to get the job done. Rather, use a cloth, hot water, and mild detergent. And don’t forget to learn how to clean floor tile grout, as that’s just as important as tile maintenance.

Grout lines should typically be between 1/8 to 3/16 inch thick. This ensures enough room for the grout to dry properly and makes them wide enough to look clean and professional. If grout lines are too small, it can be easier to see imperfections in the spacing.

Installing kitchen countertop tiles on a mold and moisture-resistant cement backer board is one of the best options. When fitted correctly on top of a plywood base, it’s stable and long-lasting. Old-fashioned cement board is economical, cuts neatly and easily with a circular or jigsaw, and screws into plywood without any difficulty.

Like any painted surface, tile paint can peel and chip over time. However, tile paint can become especially susceptible to peeling during periods of high humidity. Other sources of excess moisture will also cause tile paint to peel faster than normal. And if the tiles are in a high-traffic area, like the entryway floor, tile paint will chip and peel faster.
