"James came out and did an energy audit on the house. He was pleased with what I had already done but suggested radiant barrier and the solar fans as good additions to the whole picture. After discussing it I also added the access ladder to the attic. It had an opening but no ladder and I wanted it for easier access.
Carl scheduled it and came with the crew who installed the radiant barrier and the insulation. Carl stayed and replaced sheetrock and they prepared it for painting. Came back the next day and finished the job by adding the two solar fans after sanding the putting on more mud on the sheetrock repairs. Once it dried he painted it. He came at 2 on the second day and did not leave until he finished at 5. I hope he made it to his child's program which was at 7.  He did a very good job. I really appreciate the work James, Carl and Brooke did to keep the job on track.
Brooke made sure communication was good between all everyone and the job went smoothly.

Thank you. I would recommed them to anyone who wants this done.

"I really wanted to provide a good review to these guys if only for the repeated effort they put in trying to get it right. Once the owner started to blame me and my house for the struggles they had, I decided I needed to write an honest review. So I have a house that was built around 2000 and it has rolled on texture and stamped ceiling texture that is applied using spackling compound. This is very common in this area and prior painters have had no problem matching it. In this case the crew admitted to me they were not professional painters, they did not to keep the area neat (drips on carpet, stain on pool cool deck (photo), stain on garage wall (photo), muddy boot prints on stair carpeting (see photo), etc,), they could not create a straight line in corners where two paint colors merge (see white/blue paint photo), and did not know how to texture. The wall texture had to be done over three times - that is literal. I showed them how to do it. They eventually got that fairly well figured out. The ceiling was another story - the area that had a sheet rock repair was retextured 5 times over three visits (see white ceiling / gray wall paint photos). At first it was totally terrible and I had to tell them what ceiling texture stamping tool to buy from Home Depot (pretty much the main one they sell). One painter told me he watched utube to try and figure out how to use that tool but did not have any experience with texture. He was not satisfied with his own work, to his credit. Finally the owner came and redid it. I was dismayed to find how rough it looks. I have hired someone to re do it. I can not recommend this company. If you do hire them, don't pay up front like I did."

"It was good, they showed up on time and did the job. They were quick and efficient. We needed a plug thing and then the connection was bad so he fixed that circuit or light, and the plug in the bath in the bedroom, the light turned on the wall plugs but we wanted it turn on the fan so to switch that around. We've used him before and he did a good job that time and so we called him again."

"Jose and his wife are extremely responsive and attentive to details. Every call was answered timely. If Jose could not reach me by phone,  Sandra would email me (which I access on my phone, as well). Jose pointed out all the "extras" that arose as the job unfolded and which is bound to happen with such jobs. For instance, when we opened up the ceiling, we found a broken 2x4 had to be replaced and another one was rotted from a previous leak. There were literally a dozen such surprises along the way. No one likes to spend money on things that are invisible BUT they are all necessary. An incorrectly wired stove exhaust fan in the attic is a fire hazard if left uncorrected, for example.
Jose's team of 3-4 guys worked for more than two weeks, often for ten hours a day. They left the home as clean as could reasonably be expected which I appreciated since it is never fun living through a renovation.
I did not actually seek competitive quotes when I contracted for this job.  I simply went by the reviews of others on Angie's List and liked what I read. So, I cannot state without a doubt that I got the job done in the cheapest way possible.  I CAN say that I got the BEST job that I think I could have gotten and it was delivered from a contractor who is reliable, responsive and professional.  I am a totally satisfied customer and love my house again.

"These guys are awesome. Mark (the owner) is a hillarious guy. Tons of personality. I loved having them in my house, although they were here for a loooong time (we ended up going out and bringing back some lunch for them). They cleaned my ducts alright, but they also replaces a couple rusty grates, cleaned all the others even repainting a couple, cleaned ceiling fan blades and DUSTED MY ENTIRE HOUSE. Mark said if he didn't do that, we'd never be sure if their work, well, worked. He showed me the right way to make sure my air filter seated properly (mine was wrong) and helped me tell when the filters needed to be changed. He even showed me where I could get some of those old-school aluminum-framed fiberglass furnace filters.
He took me up into the crawl space and opened my AC components, explaining where mold and mildew gather, showed me my dirty coils before and after cleaning them, and even checked my condensate drip pan and line!
They left us in a sparkling clean house, with spotless vents and beautiful registers. It was months before we had to dust again, and the whole house just stays cleaner now.
Mark also runs a limousine company and rents an office building full of lawyers. I will be calling him for any of my future air duct/legal/limousine needs...

Ceiling Fans questions, answered by experts

Fan power is measured by CFM, or cubic feet per minute. For every 1,000 feet of square footage in your attic, you need a minimum of 700 CFM. Steeper roofs may need larger fans or about 840 CFM.  You can figure the size of attic fan you need by multiplying the square footage of your attic floor by 0.7. (multiply by 1.2 for a steep roof and 1.15 for a dark roof). That number is the CFM required for your fan to run efficiently.

If you’re removing a ceiling fan without visible screws, start by locating the fan canopy—a round cover placed above the fan blades and motor. There should be a thin ring that can be turned counterclockwise to remove the canopy and reveal the screws. After unscrewing the fan, you can disconnect the wires and remove the entire fan from the mounting hardware. For safety, make sure the fan switch is turned off before you remove the canopy. It may be easier to remove the fan blades first, too.

Generally, a ceiling fan should be mounted at least seven feet from the floor in the center of your room with a wall clearance of around 18 inches. If your ceiling is more than eight feet high, it’s recommended by experts that the ceiling fan be mounted around eight to nine feet from the ground. This helps ensure a better quality of circulated airflow.

Keeping dust off fans can keep them working optimally and help keep dust mites or bacteria from building up. Dust fans weekly with a duster, microfiber cloth, old pillowcase, or vacuum attachment. You can also try spraying a clean fan with a store-bought dust-repellent product or making a DIY dust-repellent with water and a small amount of liquid fabric softener mixed in.

Yes, you can install a ceiling fan where a standard light fixture is, as the electrical wiring is often similar and may not need to be replaced. The most important step is to ensure the ceiling can support the fan's weight and motion. You will need to replace the existing light fixture's electrical box with a fan-rated electrical box, which is specifically designed to handle the extra weight and vibration. These boxes will be labeled as suitable for ceiling fan support and will indicate the maximum weight they can hold. Before you begin, also consider if you need an extension rod for a high ceiling or a special mount for an angled ceiling.
