I have a one car garage and wanted a way to do tandem parking or extend the usable outdoor space. I chose Made In The Shade and happy I did. Perfect install. Even scribed the main horizontal members to the fascia. 100% quality install. This price was about $1,800 more than a pressure treated solution. But, it is worth it to me because of the very clean, turn key process, and the maintenance free product. Could'y be more happy with the result.

Process was very smooth, Dale came right on the time of his appointment for the estimate and a few weeks later came to build our patio cover. They spent 1 day and finished. Cleaned the entire area and we were very happy with the result, it looks great. Would recommend and hire again.

Amazing! Dale and his wife Judi are a wonderful family run company! If your looking for a patio cover look no further. Our other quotes were double or triple the price. The difference is Dale and Judi use a lifetime warranty aluminum base cover which attaches to the existing roof. We were able to finally get a much needed and beautiful patio cover. Being a family run business they were able to answer any questions that came up with honest answers. No sales people and no auto-answer messages. Actual people!

Dale and Zach did a wonderful job, they were responsive, efficient and genuinely want to make their customers happy. They completed the pergola in 2.5 days, did a thorough job of cleaning up and made sure I was happy every step of the way. I could not be happier.

Excellent service from the first meeting to the completion of the project.  The owner was there every day working with his crew.  They were professional, polite and really easy to work with.  They cleaned up after the day's work and ensured that we were satisfied every step of the way.

Made in the Shade beat all of the other estimates we received by a large margin and was able to install the pergola within a couple of days of providing the estimate, which was wonderful with the 4th of July right around the corner. Dale was incredibly responsive to my questions and concerns throughout the project and did a fantastic job. We plan to have him come back out at some point to install another pergola in a different area of our backyard.

Dale designed and completed all patio cover work himself to perfection and he supervised the concrete post installation by a contractor.   After receiving several bids for our project we went with Dale following a glowing recommendation from an aluminum wholesaler/distributor in Houston who showed us a gallery of completed installations using his aluminum and Dale's designs.  Our patio cover has been in service for a year now and it looks as great as it did the first day.   We are considering having Dale construct a second, larger cover this year to the side of our house.    Dale loves what he does and it shows; I cannot image anyone being disappointed with any work performed by Dale and Made in the Shade.

It went very well. They did a real good job and afterwards they came back and installed a screen at no charge.

Dale (owner) showed up on time for the consultation visit.  I was already impressed, not having had to wait till the end of the time frame they told you and then called you right before the time frame was up that they couldn't make it or were running late, blah blah blah.  Dale was punctual.  He showed me what he could do and was willing to tear down my existing patio cover.  He gave me a lot of options and the price seemed reasonable.  I called him later with more questions and he answered them all right away.  We liked him and liked what he could do for us.  He was able to give us more discounts since he lives not too far from us.  So that worked for us.  We picked him, gave him a down payment, and scheduled a day for him to start.  Before he started we changed mind, from wanting to have the fully closed cover to half opened and half closed.  He was able to accommodate us right away.  Seemed like putting up the cover didn't take long.  What took long was dismantling my existing cover.  Dale and his team did a great job, and they cleaned themselves afterwards.  It looks so nice now.  Be sure to ask for the rafter tail as they look a lot better than straight end.  We bought the ceiling fans and he installed free for us.  He also installed one electric outlet for us on each of the three poles.  I paid for the outlet.  He installed free for us.  Not bad.  I would recommend Make in the Shade.  Great job!

I was fully satisfied. They did what we agreed to do. The work was good quality. They fulfilled my expectations. With regard to price, I didn’t compete it. It was reasonable. They are fine.

Great.  I had him in for a quote where he arrived on time and listed to what I was after.  Provided a quote and after getting a quote from two others, selected him for the work.  His price was right in line with the others, but I was a little frustrated with the lack of responsiveness of one or two others.  After I agreed to bring him on, he came over for final details and I decided to change the design slightly.  No problem.  He changed the plans, took care of the home owners association, made arrangements to come out to do the work and performed the job on time and budget.  I was thrilled.  No mess in the yard -- the crew even moved furniture into place for me.  I'd recommend these guys at the drop of a hat.

Dale came to my house April 2013 and gave me quotes for a patio cover, he gave me quotes for three different options per my request. Angie's list had a coupon for 250 off ceiling fan installation however Dale told me he would put up as many ceiling fans as I wanted for free. We discussed the different size patio options & pricing I decided to go with a size bigger than my existing slab so I needed to get cement work done before the patio cover could be installed. The cement job was a pretty big job and the company I used was booked up until June 2013. Upon learning this I called Judy the office manager (Dales wife) and asked if my existing quote would still be good being that the job was planned in April & I would not be ready until June. Judy said yes and we set a tentative date for the patio work to be done. Judy was a joy to work with we talked several times and every time it was like talking with a friend. This is a family owned business and their customer service is excellent. I have NEVER had such an enjoyable experience having work done on my home. Finally the patio cover was put on on the date they promised Dale & Judy told me exactly what to expect & that's exactly what happened. The patio cover covers 2 huge windows that are on the back of my house the difference it has made in cooling my house is huge and my electric bill has been lower. It's beautiful, functional and adds a whole other huge living space on my house. My only advice is if Dale tells you your space will hold 3 fans put up 3 fans! Thanks to Dale & Judy I love my patio cover so much it's beautiful!

We are EXTREMELY satisfied with the quality and workmanship of our Pergola constructed by Made in the Shade.  Dale and his crew are true craftsmen in their trade and very professional.  Dale gave us a great quote, assisted in the design, and processed all the paperwork with our Homeowners Association.   Once construction began, the project was completed in a very timely manner.  They cleaned the work area each evening and we were able to continue enjoy our outside area.  Upon completion of the project, the work area was cleaned and there was absolutely nothing left behind for us to pick up.  They were very tolerable of our dogs too!  We highly recommend Made in the Shade to add the perfect touch to you outdoor living area.

Dale personally came to our house with samples and suggestions on the Saturday immediately after I called the number listed in Angie's List.  He submitted a drawing and proposal a few days later, which we accepted.  The only problem we had was with West University Code Enforcement; the code official failed to understand that the pergola was to be built over an existing veranda, on top of our existing garage.  The code approval process took almost one month!
After the project was approved by the West University Building Codes official, Dale and his son started work immediately.  They were prompt, professional, polite, and efficient.  We are very pleased with the finished product, which is truly beautiful!  This structure makes our veranda much more "user-friendly," especially during the summer months.

We could not be happier with the job Dale and his crew did!  Everything went perfectly - from the first visit and conversation with Dale,  to the final inspection of the new patio cover.  It looks wonderful and it was a totally painless experience for us.  These folks were prompt, professional, helpful and completely prepared.  The price was just as we had been quoted - no surprises.  Dale and his company really want you to be happy with the end product.  And we are very happy with our new patio cover.  We know we will be spending lots more time in our back yard this year!

This was as close to a dream project as one could imagine. While many contractors seem to be so motivated by money, Dale, the owner of Made in the Shade, truly wanted you to love his final product. His project scope included many extras, and he went the distance to ensure structural integrity, both with the new cover as well as with the house itself. He and his crew were dependable, courteous, and cleaned the construction area each day before they left. They completed the project as promised, both in design as well as within the promised timeline.
