"Louis did a wonderful job patching holes in the drywall and ceiling left by the plumbers. He was careful to contain the dust mess from the work and communicated well the time he needed to complete the job. He was professional, polite, and I would hire him again in a heartbeat."

Small jobs welcome

"The work done was top quality! However, we had an issue with the charges and had to argue to get it fixed right. The dispute was on the coupon for $178 for 2 hours of drywall repair. They tried to add a $50 service charge on top of that (total: $228) which would have cost more if you just hired them flat out without any coupon for 2 hours ($138 + $88 = $226). There is nothing in the coupon that states this! The lady in the office I spoke to was professional but was quite irritated that I disputed this charge. She finally took off the $50 to settle this and sounded annoyed after much arguing back and forth. Note to Mr. Handyman: If you are offering a coupon, that means you are discounting the regular price. If you are going to add hidden charges like service charges to make it more expensive that regular price, don't offer a coupon. The coupon you have does not refer to any service charge. It is a shame as I really like the work that was done and have used them in the past. Too bad it had to take arguing from a customer to point out that there should be no service charge and deal with a lady who instead of being conciliatory at this mistake sounded very annoyed at the customer."

Pool Table Assembly questions, answered by experts

Completing pool construction and installation projects significantly boosts your property value and resale appeal in Austin. The warm climate makes a pool a functional necessity for many buyers, particularly transplants expecting standard outdoor amenities. You will see the highest return in neighborhoods where backyard pools are heavily expected. Keep in mind that adding a pool increases your annual property tax assessment, so plan your project timing accordingly.

Helpful?

When planning pool and spa service, check the current Austin drought restrictions, as water usage is strictly regulated. Review your neighborhood association rules regarding equipment placement and contractor access hours. Account for the expansive clay soil in TX, which shifts and damages underground plumbing. Prepare for heavy winter cedar pollen, which clogs filters and requires frequent cleaning.

Helpful?

Neglecting routine maintenance during mild TX winters severely damages pool construction and installation work through calcium scaling. You should water the soil around your pool during droughts to prevent clay from shrinking and cracking the shell. Manage water levels carefully before heavy rain to avoid hydrostatic pressure damage. Turn off equipment during extreme heat waves to prevent power surge damage, and avoid planting large trees with aggressive roots nearby.

Helpful?

When hiring professionals for pool construction and installation, check that the contractor pulls the required permits in their name to protect your liability. You must hire experts familiar with Austin's expansive clay soils and limestone bedrock, as these require specific engineering and excavation techniques. Ensure your contractor understands local water conservation rules, neighborhood restrictions, and strict impervious cover limits before beginning the design phase.

Helpful?

After finishing pool and spa service, re-test your water chemistry, especially following heavy Austin rainstorms that dilute your sanitizers. Monitor the water weekly for algae during the hot summer months. Inspect the deck, coping, and plumbing for damage following any severe TX winter freezes. Finally, schedule a final inspection to close out any required city permits.
