"S W Contractors did a great job of replacing our bathroom floor tile. Steve was very good , knowledgeable, and easy to work with. The pricing was very reasonable, and ability to get the job done in a timely manner. The installers did an awesome job. They were always aware of keeping the area clean. "Brandon and Haley with Quality Flooring and renovations did an outstanding job renovating our powder room. They came and worked in our home on a holiday and delivered as promised. "Williams was a pleasure to work with. They refinished a tub and the tile around the tub. They also refinished a tile walk in shower. There was a piece of broken tile and they fixed that as well as some holes where handicap bars were located. It is very difficult to even find where the tile was broken now. They did excellent work and performed the work exactly when they said they would. The prices were very reasonable and they were a pleasure to work with."

"Malcolm, Nicole and the entire Davis Flooring team were incredible. I reached out to Nicole to have our Kitchen floor replaced with new tile and she booked us for work within a few days. The team was punctual, timely and most of all did an absolutely phenomenal job designing and laying a beautiful herringbone tile floor in our kitchen. I look forward to working with the Davis’s in the near future on other projects and I can’t recommend them highly enough."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

When choosing between porcelain and ceramic tile, the best option depends on your specific needs, budget, and project application. Porcelain tile is generally more durable, denser, and harder than ceramic, making it a good choice for busy, high-traffic areas. It also offers superior moisture resistance, making it ideal for moisture-retaining spaces. However, porcelain is typically more expensive, and its hardness can make it brittle, potentially causing it to crack if a heavy object is dropped on it. In contrast, ceramic tile is a more budget-friendly option with lower material and installation costs. It is softer and easier to work with, making it a great choice for DIY projects. While not as durable as porcelain, ceramic is still a quality material suitable for many home applications, particularly small, decorative projects.

If you hire a professional to lay tile, you can expect to pay $3 to $15 per square foot for labor. For a 100-square-foot tiling project, that would equal $30 to $150 in labor. These costs may increase if you need extra services (such as tile removal, wall repair, or waterproofing). For example, tile removal costs an additional $2 to $7 per square foot.

Generally speaking, it is better to cut tile wet when using a fast-moving wet saw to reduce dust and chipping. However, tile can be cut dry when using just about any cutting tool. Dry cutting will result in a bigger mess and may increase the risk of chipping or cracking, but if you’re just making small cuts, dry cutting is a safe and viable option. Cutting dry also means you can apply tile grout sooner, so it’s better for rushed projects.

The number of boxes of tile you need depends entirely on the amount of tile in each box or case. Different manufacturers package their tiles differently, and boxes contain different amounts of tile depending on the size, shape, and material. Often, the amount of area that a case will cover is listed in the product description. To calculate the number of boxes you need, take the total square feet of the space and divide it by the number of square feet the box will cover.

You can attach tiles to a wall using thin-set mortar. You’ll also need a notched trowel to create grooves within the adhesive so it flattens completely when pressed in and securely holds the wall tiles. Finally, you’ll need grout to smooth the gaps between the tiles and, ideally, a grout sealer to prevent mold. While it sounds simple enough, proper planning and execution are crucial, so carefully review the steps in this guide or hire a pro tile installer to complete this project.
