"The flooring material wasn't the best quality. We had expected much better from this company. The installers worked quickly and efficiently even though there were only two of them. The project took them almost twelve hours to complete. Therefore I believe that three to four working together would have been best. They were after 11:00 pm leaving our home."

"Fantastic. The whole process is made simple by the professionalism of Noel in the Sales office, and Donnie in the fabrication facility. The Donnie's many years of experience with stone shows through in the final product. Extremely satisfied from start to finish. These folks care about making sure the customer is beyond pleased at the end of the day. This is our second project with Queen City Kitchens, and if I can find any other places to add stone, I will only go here. Excellent service. Great people. Folks you can trust."

"My condo has a marble kitchen countertop that was terribly etched and stained. I had several people look at it. One wouldn't even attempt to fix it. Sir Grout's general manager Chrissie looked at it and was confident they could make it look a lot better. While there, she also observed the ceramic tile floors were in desperate need of cleaning and sealing with a painted sealer. The worker who showed up was terrific. The floor looks like new. The countertop was a challenge. Company owner Marc personally came the next day to work on it and when he left it did indeed look like new. These people are a pleasure to work with. From scheduling, to working, to clean up to following up - they are very customer oriented and driven to make sure the customer is happy with the results. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I was so pleased with their work that I hired them to do several things at my residence also. Jamar honed and polished several marble tops we have, he cleaned and re-sealed the shower and polished our kitchen granite countertop. All around, great work, great workers and great experience. I wish they painted!!!"

"Franco & Barry did exceptional work.  Franco helped us with additional design needs, did great work, handled some plumbing work at a competitive cost, and helped us identify secondary contractors for a glass enclosure.   The glass enclosure installer even commented on how good the tile work was.
We can't wait to work with him again on other projects.

"Walter and his team were professional and worked quickly! In less than 2 days they completed the tiling of one of our bedrooms. The room looks beautiful, great worksmanship and great pricing! Will have them come back to do our staircase and landing"

"Our sales associate Tim Brown was experienced, knowledgeable, responsive and pleasant to work with. He was also the one who came to our house to take measurements and prepare the quote. After experiencing a confusing quote process at HomeDepot with multiple parties involved it was important for us to have a single person for contact. The crew that came out to
install the flooring apparently was subcontracted and not fully informed about the scope of the work. It took a phone call with Tim to get them to do what was originally agreed. They did a fine job with the carpet on the stairs. The vinyl flooring itself was also done well. But the new quarter rounds, which they put where the vinyl meets the baseboards, where installed without removing silicone sealant left behind from the original quarter rounds.  The appearance was by far not ?like new? as Tim had promised during his visit. After contacting Tim about this issue he sent out their own installation crew for inspection. They agreed to our complaint and came back the same day to remove the old silicone in the areas of concern and apply a fresh silicone thread. This took them less than an hour. The end result is excellent and grade A. I gave the B rating for professionalism because a company, which has been in the business for so long, should get the installation right the first time. We would use Empire Carpet&Blinds again.

"The new granite and tile look great. It's high quality with a competitive price. One area where this company could use improvement is scheduling. I was given a time for the installer to arrive of between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Given that I was told that I was the first job on the calendar for the day, I expected the installer to arrive close to 9:00. They arrived at 10:45. Additionally, I paid extra for granite sealant to be applied but this was not put on the schedule at all until after the granite was installed. I was under the understanding that the sealant would be applied before the granite was installed but that's not the case. I had to make another appointment for the sealant for five days after the installation. I had to pay the plumber for his services separately. The company apparently has a plumbing company that they use -- indeed that they scheduled -- but I have to pay that bill separately. Admittedly, I knew this in advance and it wasn't a deal-killer, just weird."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

There isn’t a one-size-fits-all best tile for a dog shower. Consider your budget, tile durability, aesthetics, and, most importantly, practicality. Avoid tiles your dog will slide around on. Pebbles are a great non-slip option, but are pricey and tricky to install. Glass might look modern, but it’s not scratch-resistant. Small, floor-rated ceramic or porcelain tiles are economical and have many grout lines that make the surface more slip-resistant. Pick a matte finish rather than a shiny tile if you want it to hide stray mud and hairs better.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

Most professional shower tile installations take between six and eight hours, depending on the size and complexity. Most projects get completed in a single workday. DIY-ing the project takes around three to four days or roughly 16 hours. However, this will vary based on the skill level of the person completing the work.

The choice of whether to tile or use an acrylic tub surround is up to you and can be based on a number of factors, including aesthetics, cost, waterproofing, ease of cleaning, and maintenance.

Tile is a beautiful, classic bathtub surround choice; while tile installation cost is higher, it’s customizable and offers visual appeal. Tile is also harder to clean and presents waterproofing problems because of grout lines. Acrylic surrounds can be more affordable, don’t require much maintenance, and are easier to clean. However, they aren’t usually as visually appealing and may need to be replaced if they become damaged.

Yes, it’s possible to cut tile without a wet saw; instead, you can use an angle grinder, a glass cutter, a snap cutter, tile nippers, or a rotary tool with a tile-cutting blade. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.
