"You can stop shopping for landscapers now because this guy is the end all in our opinion. Landscaping from A - Z ... vision creation, design, installation where no possible solution could have been foreseen on at least a 30 degree slope to a swampy pond. Jason does an INCREDIBLE JOB! You will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! He is communicative, professional, visionary, and a problem solver who went above and beyond with his incredibly hard working team to produce a hardscape & landscape above & beyond our expectations. Reasonably priced, quality, DETAILED PRECISION work, you want this man and his team on your team!! We are still marveling at the transformation as we look at our beautiful yard day after day. He is still following up ensuring the sod is taking, fixing irrigation issues, and coming up with solutions for other projects. Happy to be a reference at any point. This company is about as low a 'risk' as you can take, and we have not had the pleasure of writing that about many contracting companies. "Chris called me immediately after I completed the Angi Home Advisor questionnaire. He came to my home the following day, a few minutes before my appointment time. He was well dressed, groomed and very respectful. We went to my backyard and he listened to what my vision was for the artificial turf install. He measured everything and shared some of his ideas, gave me a quote and 1 week later Chris and his team delivered my dream backyard. The expertise and customer service was impeccable. I love my backyard. Thank you Chris and your team."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

The average cost for landscaping is around $3,500, but prices can range from as low as $200 for simple DIY projects to $14,000 or more for extensive work. Several factors influence the final price, including your geographic location, yard size, project scope, chosen materials, site preparation, and the type of landscaping involved. Professional landscaper labor costs typically range from $50 to $100 per hour.

For a smaller budget, you can focus on softscaping projects like adding mulch, flowers, and shrubs, which might only cost a few hundred dollars if you do the work yourself. A budget of around $5,000 could cover projects like a simple patio, new plants and tree trimming, or a water feature. More extensive hardscaping projects, such as pergolas, patios, and walkways, can push the budget to $14,000 or more. For example, a flower bed installation averages between $800 and $3,000, while landscape lighting installation can cost from $2,000 to $6,000.

During the fall, you’re likely to see foliage in stunning shades of orange, red, yellow, and brown. These colors emerge because of a seasonal decline in the pigment chlorophyll that makes leaves green.

Monkey grass makes a beautiful, low-maintenance ground cover, particularly in shadier areas where other grasses don’t receive enough sunlight to grow. It’s also excellent for edging walkways, bordering flower beds, and accenting rock gardens. You can grow it as a container plant, as well, which is a perfect solution for those who love its foliage but want to contain the spread.

A scattering of leaves won’t pose a problem through the winter, but a thicker layer of leaves may not decompose before the first frost and can instead weigh down your grass and harbor mold or fungi. A thick layer of leaves also cuts off light and air that grass needs to grow. That’s why we suggest removing thick leaf layers within several days if possible. If your lawn goes dormant over the winter and snow has already caught up with you, then remove the leaves in early spring before your grass-growing season starts so your lawn can thrive.

While there are over 400,000 different flowering plants worldwide, there are five main types of flowers. These flower types are based on their lifecycles, giving each type a unique personality. These types are:

  • Annuals, which complete their entire life cycle within a single growing season.

  • Perennials, which the tops die off in the winter but regrow in spring.

  • Biennials, which complete their entire life cycle within two years.

  • Hybrids, which exhibit either annual or perennial behaviors depending on location

  • Flowering shrubs, which are small to medium-sized perennial woody plants, such as shrubs or evergreens.
