Small jobs welcome

"Atanas (Nick) takes great pride in a job well done. He repaired drywall in my basement and skim coated the walls. There were a few moldy areas and he was very thorough about removal of the mold. He explained his process and the materials needed. He was willing to work around my work schedule. The finished product is great! I couldn't ask for a better outcome."

"We recently purchased furniture, and during delivery the delivery team damaged the wall in our entrance. Ofelia quickly responded to our request and provided a quote to fix the problem. Martin came the following week to repair and paint part of the drywall in our entrance hallway. They were prompt, professional, and worked very cleanly. I would recommend them to anyone who needs drywall and painting work."

Small jobs welcome

"Rob had done work for us about 2 years ago when we finished our basement. He completely drywalled the entire area and did a fantastic job! I recently decided to close in an area where a large fish tank had been built in. Unfortunately I thought I would be able to finish the drywall myself. I was wrong. After about 2 weeks and multiple coats, it did not look good. I contacted Rob who fit me into his schedule; (he came on a Saturday). He assessed my work (and was very kind considering my sub-par repair), and went to work. He would have completed the job in one visit but with about 3/4 of the work done, the power went out. This guy can actually finish drywall in the dark, using a flashlight! He came back a day later for a short visit to finish up. I would highly recommend Rob for any drywall job, large or small. He does great work and very personable. Thanks again Rob for bailing me out of a jam."

"Brian Kalanish is an excellent plasterer. We have used him before and his work still looks great years later. This time, as before, he did an excellent job. He is nice, easy to communicate with, and his prices are reasonable. I would hire him again and I recommend him."

Customers say: Quality work

"We hired Mike initially to fix the drywall and paint the interior of the condo that we were planning to move in. He was very easy to communicate from the beginning to the end, showed up on time and worked hard every day, did a thorough job that did not miss any details and gave us a very fair price. Because we liked him so much, we ended up hiring him for other jobs including plumbing, lighting, installing appliances and cabinet painting. Throughout this process, he was trustworthy, very knowledgeable in his work and tried really hard to accommodate my schedule. Although we were on a tight schedule, we were able to move into our apartment on time because of his excellent work ethic. I would definitely hire him again and highly recommend him for any home improvement projects."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Metal corners, often referred to as corner beads for square corners, are used on drywall installations to provide structural reinforcement to vulnerable outside corners. Their usage safeguards against chipping, denting, or other forms of damage, enhancing the overall durability of the wall. Metal corners also offer a precise and straight edge that facilitates sharp and clean lines, crucial for achieving a polished and professional finish.

If your home was built before the 1940s and was not remodeled in the past 50 or so years, you probably have plaster walls. Aside from assuming, there are some practical ways to tell if you have plaster walls, including the following: If you knock on the wall and it feels solid, not hollow, if you can’t insert a thumbtack easily, if there are cracks that look like spiderwebs, or if your home has curved, arched, or swirled walls, doorways, or window openings.

If you have an unfinished basement or attic, you could examine the backs of any finished walls to check, too.

While it’s most common to sand plaster dry, it is possible to wet-sand plaster, too. Doing so can reduce the amount of plaster dust released into the air and make it easier to work in smaller, more delicate areas (such as around wall trim). However, some people find that wet sanding leads to more imperfections, which is why larger walls are more often dry sanded to ensure an even finish.

Drywall insulation costs around $1,800, on average, but prices can range from $500 to $4,500, depending on a few different factors. The following things are important considerations to make when pricing out your insulation project:

  • Square footage of insulation

  • Type of insulation

  • Climate in your area and the insulation R-value required

  • Whether or not your walls are already finished

  • Accessibility of the area

  • Whether or not you need old insulation removed first

Regular inspections, repainting, and avoiding moisture exposure help maintain integrity.
