Small jobs welcome

"We recently purchased furniture, and during delivery the delivery team damaged the wall in our entrance. Ofelia quickly responded to our request and provided a quote to fix the problem. Martin came the following week to repair and paint part of the drywall in our entrance hallway. They were prompt, professional, and worked very cleanly. I would recommend them to anyone who needs drywall and painting work."

Small jobs welcome

""We just completed having Drywall installed in a 120 year old house complete down to every crooked stud and out of plum house. It was a 2 week project start to finish as promised. Robert Pirl and his crew (Luke) was very prompt, worked tirelessly and cleaned up as they went... We can't say enough positive about Robert and Luke! Very professional, courteous, and helpful! We would recommend them! Their craftsmanship is exemplary. " Rudy Whiteoak Pa."

"Brian Kalanish is an excellent plasterer. We have used him before and his work still looks great years later. This time, as before, he did an excellent job. He is nice, easy to communicate with, and his prices are reasonable. I would hire him again and I recommend him."

Customers say: Quality work

"We hired Mike initially to fix the drywall and paint the interior of the condo that we were planning to move in. He was very easy to communicate from the beginning to the end, showed up on time and worked hard every day, did a thorough job that did not miss any details and gave us a very fair price. Because we liked him so much, we ended up hiring him for other jobs including plumbing, lighting, installing appliances and cabinet painting. Throughout this process, he was trustworthy, very knowledgeable in his work and tried really hard to accommodate my schedule. Although we were on a tight schedule, we were able to move into our apartment on time because of his excellent work ethic. I would definitely hire him again and highly recommend him for any home improvement projects."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Popular wall textures include orange peel, knockdown, spray sand, and smooth finishes. Orange peel and knockdown are particularly common choices for drywall as they are simple and cost-effective. Orange peel texture has a lightly bumpy surface resembling the skin of an orange, while knockdown (sometimes called knockout) looks like a stucco finish with flattened high spots. In contrast, popcorn texture has fallen out of fashion, partly due to its past association with asbestos and a shift toward more restrained interior design styles.

Depending on the place where the cutting error occurred, you may be able to fix it. Learning how to patch a hole in drywall is challenging, but if you can tape and mud drywall, you can do it. Having said that, patching is time consuming. Early in the installation process, you may find that it’s easier and far less time consuming to just start over with a new sheet of drywall, cutting a new hole in the right spot. You may be able to use part of the incorrectly cut piece elsewhere, so it’s not completely wasted.

Yes, you can install drywall over plaster, but there are important factors to consider. While it can create a smooth, flat surface, it is often not the best approach. Installing drywall over plaster will increase the wall's thickness, which can cause issues with existing window and door frames that may no longer fit. You might also need to adjust power outlets to keep them accessible. A better, though more expensive, option is to remove the old plaster and lath entirely before installing new drywall. Drywalling directly over plaster seals in the old material, and if any problems arise later, you will need to remove both layers down to the structural beams for repairs. Given the potential complications, this job is best handled by professionals.

Regularly in areas prone to moisture or high traffic to catch issues early.

Whether you apply the drywall mesh before or after drywall mud depends on the type of patch it is. For self-adhesive patches, you’ll put the patch down first and then coat it with mud. Mesh patches that are not self-adhesive will require you to put mud down first and then press the mesh into it, followed by additional coats of mud.
