"I am happy to recommend Ideal roofing. Brian, Spencer and the team recently replaced the roof on our house (including skylights) and shed. They did quality work, were here when they said they would be, and cleaned up the job site each day. We now have a beautiful new roof."

"I'm in the process of a divorce and selling my home. It turned out the roof had to be replaced in order for homeowners insurance to provide coverage. I was not in a position to pay for this out of pocket. This company was willing to work with me to get the work done, even allowing me to make the deposit in payments and went out of their way to get it done quickly. When they started the work, they discovered a lot of the plywood sheets were rotten and there was no framing support around one corner of the roof. They had to reframe the whole section. The owner himself is a very kind man and is teaching his son the business so I got to meet him as well. I had estimates from two other companies that were several thousand dollars more than what the total cost ended up being with Romvil A1 Roofing & Remodeling LLC. I will forever be grateful to Eric, Maggie and the whole team for helping me out. I know who I will call if I need this kind of work in the future."

"Choosing IBEX to replace my roof was the right one for me. Working with Kyle, Johnny and their crew has been top notch and very professional from the beginning. I wanted to replace two old skylights and Johnny went out of his way to see that the new ones were exactly what I wanted. Everything from the first bid to the work itself was explained very clearly and in a timely manner. I didn't feel pressured at all! I would recommend IBEX to anybody who's looking for a roofing contractor. They were great!"

"Five Star was an excellent company to work with and were able to see my vision for my home and match it. Chris was great to work with, explaining the process and details that would really make my house look like the best house in the neighborhood. I appreciate his crew, who worked hard to replace my gutters and give my house a new paint job. They left my house far better than used to be. Their excellence was not overpriced, amongst the many, many quotes I received, they provided a bid that was exceptionally competitive and value-packed. Five Star earned...Five Stars!"

"West Lake Construction removed existing roofing shingles on my large house ( 63 squares!) and installed architectural composition shingles. They had to replace ten sheets of new CDX plywood. The boss was Tyler Weston, who knows his roofing. He was always nice to work with. His crew was hard-working and knowledgeable. He kept on budget. They cleaned up really well. I highly recommend this company."

"Bridgetown Construction is a great company to work with. We found them through a ‘roofing calculator’ website. The team is very knowledgeable and understanding. Trevor, our project manager, kept us updated on progress and answered all questions. He arranged for the electrician to wire the new fan. High quality materials, careful workmanship , and good communication made for a good experience. The crew was friendly and helpful, and cleaned up each evening. Less than two weeks from bid to finish was excellent timing for us. We will call them again when we have another project."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Your chimney needs a structurally sound chimney cap, protective lining, damper, chimney flashing, and brick and mortar to prevent water from goind down your chimney. A pro can help you identify where the issue is so that you can stop water from coming down the smoke shaft, through your damper, and into your home.

You may become so frustrated with the look of moss on your roof that you contemplate whether to clean or replace your roof. Fortunately, you don’t have to go as far as replacing it. After cleaning the moss, you can use a chemical solution to keep it away. For further protection, trim branches that overhang the roof, as fallen seed pods and leaves on the roof allow moisture to collect, encouraging moss growth. Consider adding zinc-coated flashing to the roof, too. As rain washes across the zinc, it leaves zinc particles behind that inhibit moss growth.

An improper DIY roof cleaning could cause leaks by damaging the roofing material. Things like using too much water pressure on the shingles or applying a harsh cleaning solution could cause damage. If you do enough damage, you could harm the ability of the shingles or other roof materials to keep water out of your home.

Yes, moss can be dangerous for your roof if left in place to grow without treatment. The moss soaks up and holds moisture. Having a constantly damp roof could lead to problems with rot for the parts of the roof that consist of wood. Additionally, a patch of thick moss may draw insects and birds, which could damage the roof. Thick moss could block the roof’s drainage system. Water then may back up after a rainstorm and cause further damage that could eventually lead to roof repair expenses or the cost of roof replacement.

In general, you should consider replacing your roof if more than 30% of it is damaged. This includes several missing shingles, large spots of granule loss, extreme curling or cracking, structural damage to the roof's decking, or multiple areas of leaks. All of these issues could indicate compromised structural integrity that requires roof replacement.
