"I've never used a moving company before, but I'm also kind of lazy, and have grown tired of the moving process after doing it several times over the past 10 years. I've always been a bit hesitant about hiring anyone though, imagining my cheap Ikea furniture and collections of geek stuff being crushed into a billion pieces, but my Mom had recently hired Primetime Movers Portland for a small job, so I figured I'd give them a try. I had a little trouble getting ahold of them during the weekday, but was able to catch someone on Saturday and schedule something for that Friday at 4pm. The next day went about as smoothly as I could possibly have hoped - they were on time, had everything packed into the truck in about 40 mins, over to the new place, and ready to unload in under an hour. The only snag? I won the Darwin Award for the day and forgot my keys, forcing them to wait for me to go back and get them. I've since gotten everything unpacked and have yet to find so much as a scratch or dent on anything, which really surprised me, given how fast they were able to get everything loaded and unloaded. All in all, very fast, friendly, and professional guys, who were happy to put up with waiting on me, and didn't tack any extra charges on, even though I'm preettty sure we went just over the 3 hour minimum. Definitely not the nightmare I imagined, and I'm pretty certain I'll use them again in the future."

"Miller and his colleagues were able to do a lot of things quickly. Along with everything else, they also grabbed some old furniture that I needed help moving to the curb. They took several cares to make sure nothing was damaged during the move, including wrapping the furniture, turning off all the lights, and packaging the picture frames."

"

1) bent existing backdoor awning.  Had to be replaced.

2) layed tarps/plywood on top of flower beds killing flowers underneath.

3) knocked over water bottle in attic making a water stain on bedroom ceiling.

4) left scraps on attic floor.

5)installed roof vents over area that didn't have a hole for the vent.

Note: they did resolve most problems and adjusted price for damages, but the management should have better control over the work performed.  They constantly complained on how much Angie's List was getting from the job!

Garbage Collection questions, answered by experts

Soil is just one of the items you shouldn't put down a garbage disposal. Garbage disposals are only meant for soft, non-fibrous foods. Large amounts of topsoil, dirt, or rocks will damage the blades of your garbage disposal or clog the pipes. If a small amount of dirt goes down the drain as you repot a plant, you shouldn't have to worry, but never dump a whole pot of soil in the sink for fast disposal.

These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.

While unplugging your garbage disposal and plugging it back in may help, most units have an actual reset button, a bright red switch found on the underside of your unit. If your garbage disposal needs resetting, you may notice this button sticking out about a quarter of an inch from the surface of the unit, with which it’s usually flush. Simply depress this reset button to reset the unit, and then test to ensure it’s working about 10 minutes later.

If your garbage disposal powers up and you can hear it hum, but the arms inside aren’t moving, the problem might be a stubborn clog, a build-up of grease, or a jam of the impeller plate. To troubleshoot these, ensure your unit is off and disconnected from its power source before checking inside the drain or attempting to manually rotate the impeller arms or plate from the underside of the unit. A hex wrench can help.

If you cook a lot or have a larger household, a garbage disposal can be worth it, since it streamlines your kitchen duties and helps to keep food waste out of landfills. It helps to know the cost of garbage disposal installation before you make your decision. The average price is about $400, but you can expect to pay more for higher-end models or if you hire a pro to do the job for you.
