"We re-sided our 1929 house recently, and during the tear-off phase it was the perfect time to have blown-in insulation performed to insulate our exterior walls. Ryan and his crew worked quickly and we are so much more comfortable with our walls finally insulated. We had a minor repair needed as a result of the drilling, and the company worked quickly to resolve it to our satisfaction. I will happily recommend them to others, and feel like this project pays for itself quickly in terms of energy efficiency and comfort."

"Westside Drywall was the only firm willing to do what I requested, which was to repair and not replace under-floor insulation. As a result, their price was much lower. An added bonus was that they could schedule the job in a few days instead of a few weeks or months."

"Juan of Timberland Insulation did an outstanding job. We had critters get into our crawl space where they ran amok all through our insulation. The old insulation had to be removed and new insulation installed. The crew at Timberland out performed my expectations. I would highly recommend them."

"It went really well, we had a few days of really wet and cold weather but I was completed pretty close to the agreed date at the end of 2019. We are so happy with the efficiency of the insulation that came with the siding and we have already saved hundreds of dollars on energy bills. We stayed nice and cool all summer long and now that we've turned the heat on, its amazing how toasty warm it stays even when the heat shuts off at night. Dabella was the best investment we ever made. And our sales rep Ian, has become a good friend to us. Yes, we recommend Dabella! If you want it done right, on time, with good quality materials and professional expertise. Nico and Seth Cordova"

"Roberto was the technician and he was very professional, polite, and personable. He inspected the rest of our system and told us things that needed to be changed or repaired. He showed me pictures of everything. Everything he told me about was accurate. He quoted me a price for R38 insulation , Some of our ducts were plastic and he recommended them to be changed. I agreed completely and didn't know they were plastic. I would have had them done the work but I had no price comparisons to make and besides I didn't have the money right then. So he just finished the vent cleaning and left his card. He did a great job on the vent cleaning and was happy with the work."

"Do not use this product for noise reduction or noise “deadening” as it does absolutely NOTHING (no matter what the sales person says)! I was told that I would not hear cars driving by and kids/conversations outside. That was a lie. I strongly believe in selling a product for what it can do and not what it can’t just to get a customer. With that being said the crew that came to install the insulation was fantastic! They walked me through the process, showed me areas of my home that needed repair that I would not have noticed and told me ways to fix it on my own with little expense. They worked hard and got everything done in one day. I haven’t received an energy bill yet so I can’t say how the insulation has or will impact that yet. Again, as long as you are not trying to use this product for noise reduction/”deadening” you will be happy with the product and the installation team."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

The amount of insulation you need will vary depending on where you live. Energy Star recommends certain minimum insulation values in different geographic regions. In most cases, however, even adding a little insulation is better than not adding any.

Yes. Bathroom insulation requires a vapor barrier. As a matter of fact, bathrooms and kitchens are the two areas of the home that should always get a vapor barrier because of the excess moisture. If you don’t have a vapor barrier in place in these rooms, the moisture will build up and eventually lead to mold and bacteria, not to mention the destruction of the insulation.

Mineral wool wraps are the most affordable and effective insulation for crawl space ducts. They are easy to cut, last for a long time, and healthier for humans. Meanwhile, fiberglass wraps are cheaper but more hazardous and difficult to handle. If you do choose to use a fiberglass wrap, make sure you are wearing long sleeves and wear proper protective gear.

A-frame houses pose specific challenges that can make heating difficult. Their open concept design with high ceilings can lead to a colder lower floor and a warmer upper floor. A ceiling fan that pushes warm air down or pulls cold air up, depending on the season, can easily counteract temperature issues. Additionally, certain types of heating do better in these homes than others. For example, heated floors tend to be more practical and energy efficient than baseboard heating.

Although spray foam insulation typically has a higher price point than traditional insulation, the benefits often justify the investment. It offers superior sealing properties, which can lead to significant energy bill savings. Spray foam also provides excellent moisture resistance and soundproofing. Other advantages include improved indoor air quality by minimizing allergens, a long lifespan of 80 to 100 years, added structural strength to the home, and a straightforward installation process.
