"Great experience. Used Angi before to get help on other things and hasn’t been very positive. But this one wasn’t one of them. Jamie and Austin were great to work with. Even though it was just a smaller repair, they were quick and went over and beyond. Will be doing a full roof with them here soon. Highly recommended!"

"Great! Felipe and his crew were very quick to respond to our emergency. They put in a temporary patch until they were able to redo the entire roof a few days later (as the prior roof was installed incorrectly). Felipe was easy to work with and answered every question we had. The crew worked super fast and did quality work at a reasonable price. I also liked how he guarantees his work. They cleaned up at the end very well and the roof looks great. I would recommend All Roofing Eagle to anyone and would definitely use them again."

"We contracted JLV Construction LLC on May 2020, they quoted us a new roof and paint the front and back of the home, pricing, product, and demonstrated workmanship made it very compelling to go with them from the get-go. We went this the CertainTeed roofing system with a 50yr warranty and Sherwin Williams exterior paint. JLV Team was able to do the roof removal and install and 2 days and paint the house the 3rd day. JLV workers and owner were present throughout the entire project, they showed excellent workmanship and professionalism. Everything was very well planned and discussed with us every morning. We had a good idea what was the daily plan and expectations. Team made a thorough cleanup; we did not get any neighbor complaints. We are very pleased with the result and would recommend them to anyone interested in either roofing or exterior painting."

"Incredibly easy and so very professional! The roof looks great, all the vents were replaced and some rotten plywood was replaced. All the old roof was removed. It looks fantastic!! We had a very tight timetable and they accommodated us at every turn. Shalena was incredible to work with and went out of her way to make this all incredibly easy!! We cannot recommend them highly enough!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Yes, you have to get on the roof to cut a hole for solar tubing. It's not possible to complete the job from inside your house by simply cutting through the ceiling. So if you want to go the DIY route, remember to use safe ladder practices. If you’re not comfortable climbing on your roof to install solar tubes, hire a pro who has the tools and expertise to do the job safely.

Roofing felt is the most common type of roof underlayment, likely because it has been around the longest. It’s called roofing felt because it is often made of felt soaked in asphalt. Depending on the type of roofing a home has, roofing felt comes in different thicknesses.

If properly installed and maintained, roofing felt should last between 10 and 25 years.

A metal roof can last anywhere from 15 to over 100 years, with an average of 50 years, depending on the material, installation, and environment. The specific metal is a key factor: aluminum roofs may last 20 to 45 years, while steel can last 30 to 60 years. Tin can last for up to 75 years, and more durable options like zinc, stainless steel, and copper can last from 80 to over 100 years. Factors that can shorten a metal roof's lifespan include living in a coastal region with corrosive salt air, improper installation (such as laying over old shingles), and failing to inspect and replace fasteners, which may wear out before the panels.

Fall is generally considered the best time of year for roof repairs. The weather is temperate and typically drier, which makes for safer working conditions and fewer delays. The days are also still long enough to complete the work.

Spring is another good option and is a popular time for repairs to fix damage from winter storms. However, frequent rainfall can slow down progress. Spring may be a less busy season for roofers than fall.

Summer can also work for roof repairs, but extreme heat can make asphalt shingles too soft and difficult to work with.

The most common defect in a flat roof is leaking. Flat roofs have minimal slope, so water pools more readily on a flat roof than on a sloped roof, and the risk of the waterproof membrane failing increases with exposure. Tears and punctures from foot traffic and blown debris are other common problems, especially with single-ply roofing membranes like TPO and EPDM roofs.
