"not the best experience to work with. after the presentation stating it would be "done in a day" we decided to move forward with the project the following weekend. the installer showed up and told us the info he was given by the company was not accurate to the project so he didn't do anything and said he would get back in touch to reschedule. the following Thursday my wife gets a text saying that the installer will be out on Friday. my wife took the day off of work to be there for the install. Friday mid-morning she got a text saying that the parts didn't arrive and that he will have to postpone yet again. I instructed my wife to text to inquire when the material was going to land and she was told it would land on Saturday and the installer would do the install on Sunday. Sunday morning rolls around and we get another text saying that they can't get into the warehouse to get the materials to do the job. at this point we are three weeks into this project and still no progress. the following Saturday the installers show up and demo the old tub and surround out of my house and begin the install. the installer did not get the job completed and had to come back on Sunday to finish. late Sunday evening the installer calls me in to see what he considered a job done, however I had to point out large holes in the drywall that were made and not patched or concealed, areas where caulking was missed and I even found a 3" crack in the acrylic surround material. I noticed that one wall looked weird like it bowed. he went on to say that the wall was not straight. I put a 4' level on my cupboard right next to his surround and my cupboard is perfectly plumb and so is my wall but his acrylic is bowed. I mentioned to him that it looks like it is a manufacture defect. that the material might not have been heated enough before bending which caused the bow and the crack. he looked confused and didn't seem to come up with a solution to the issue other than put some caulking over the crack, not the right solution for where the crack is located but it allowed us to use the shower. he them wanted me to sign a job complete form which I wouldn't do until the drywall, and some of these other issues were taken care of. he ordered more trim/corner pieces to cover over the bowed wall and drywall issues, the wall still isn't plumb but it is not as noticeable unless you know what you are looking for. in the mean time while I was waiting for this repair I called down to my county office to see if I need a permit for the jetted tub they installed and my county says yes since they had to run the tub on it's own circuit. my county went on to tell me that they did not see a permit request at all for anything on this remodel witch shocked me. I got in touch DaBella and asked them why no permitting has been done on this project and they didn't give me much information. the next week we ended up meeting with the local electrical inspector to clear that up. the presentation lady came back out to have us sign the job complete and I showed her the 3" crack and of course she was shocked and understood that a proper solution needs to be made. we signed the job complete paperwork with the notation the a solution to the crack needs to be dealt with. we have heard nothing from DaBella since. my recommendation to others is to hire a different contractor for their project, if you have to use DaBella you will most likely have to hold their hand and show them the right way to follow through."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Seaside, OR, the salty air and high humidity make regular electrical maintenance essential. Schedule moisture protection checks every six months, and test GFCI outlets monthly to prevent salt air corrosion. Inspect outdoor fixtures after storms for signs of rust or water intrusion. Annually, check your electrical panel for corrosion, and ensure surge protectors and grounding systems are functioning to handle frequent coastal storms.

Helpful?

If your Seaside, OR home was built before 1980, or you notice corrosion on outlets or panels, it’s wise to consider upgrades. Frequent GFCI tripping, rust stains, or flickering lights during storms are warning signs. Homes lacking GFCI protection in wet areas or with insufficient outlets should be evaluated by a local professional to ensure safe, dependable electrical performance in Seaside’s coastal conditions.

Helpful?

When planning electrical work in Seaside, OR, factor in the need for permits and coordination with local building authorities. The area’s frequent storms and high winds require secure outdoor installations and backup power planning. Consider proximity to tsunami evacuation routes and the increased electrical load during tourist seasons, especially for vacation rentals. Choose materials and designs that resist sand and salt corrosion for long-term durability.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Seaside, OR, prioritize corrosion-resistant materials like stainless steel or galvanized hardware to combat salt air. Use marine-grade wire nuts and weatherproof electrical boxes with gasket seals for outdoor installations. PVC or coated galvanized steel conduit offers extra protection against moisture. Always install GFCI outlets with weather-resistant covers to ensure safe, reliable operation in Seaside’s coastal environment.

Helpful?

In Seaside, OR, outdoor outlets, lighting, and wiring near decks or patios are especially vulnerable to salt air corrosion. Bathrooms and kitchens often require frequent GFCI testing due to persistent humidity. Basements and crawl spaces can develop wiring issues from ground moisture, while attic fans may need attention to manage excess dampness. Electrical panels in older homes are also prone to corrosion from the coastal climate.
