"I had an emergency situation at my home where we partially lost power, and Unity went above and beyond in every respect! 1. They were able to send someone out the same day, and quoted me a $299 base fee. Every other electrician I called either said they were at least a week out, or had an emergency fee of $500 or more. 2. The electrician who came was SUPER friendly and helpful. 3. He quickly diagnosed and fixed the problem (it turned out to be relatively simple). 4. He then refused to accept even a partial payment, since the fix was so simple, and he was already in the neighborhood on another job. I will DEFINITELY call Unity again next time I need an electrician. Thank you!!!"

A portable generator can supply power to selected appliances and circuits in a home, but it's generally not designed to handle the entire household's electrical needs simultaneously. Portable generators have limited wattage capacity, so they are only designed to power essential devices and electronics temporarily until local power is restored. If your power needs outweigh the capabilities of a portable generator, consider installing a whole-home generator instead.

The easiest way to determine the amperage of your electrical outlets is to check the corresponding breaker in your home’s breaker panel. The number is likely noted on the circuit breaker. If that fails, it’s possible to tell 15-amp and 20-amp outlets apart by looking at them. Fifteen-amp outlets have two vertical holes, while 20-amp outlets have one vertical hole and one T-shaped hole. 

The standard voltage for United States power outlets isn’t shared around the world, and neither is the shape of the power connector. This is why you need travel adapters when spending time abroad. Where the United States typically uses 110/120V outlets, outlets in Europe typically use 220/240V. Power outlets can vary in other ways around the world, too. Not everyone uses the 60Hz frequency, for example, and not everyone even uses AC power in outlets. Always do your research when traveling to see what you need.

For a 200-amp underground service, you need a minimum of #2/0 American Wire Gauge (AWG) copper or #4/0 AWG aluminum or copper-clad wire. Don’t forget that, at minimum, you’ll need to use a 1 1/2-inch schedule 40 or 80 PVC conduit to successfully run a 200-amp underground service.

While you can plug most electrical items into a GFCI outlet, some with stationary motors, which experience a small amount of current leakage, such as vent fans or fluorescent lighting, can cause tripping.
