"Fantastic follow through and excellent job on my gutters. They gave the least expensive quote. When they finished my job I gave their name to a friend who was unhappy with the company she was using, putting her gutters put on, and switched to using Northwest Roofing, she also was very pleased with the job they did."

"If you believe that hiring the best knowing it will be expensive is the right thing to do, then this is the right company in the Kelso Longview area for you. A couple years ago I hired a company out of Woodland that was rated highly by the Better Business Bureau. Well after two years of finding water damage inside my house, we decided to have the entire roof torn off and put back on properly. Thatâ s where Jason came in with Taurus Roofing. Wow. From the time he came to my house and measured the roof to the time they left my house with a new roof was about a week. The salesman actually showed up with the crew. You heard me right. He came with materials and a crew ready to work. They tore off my roof which is roughly 2000 ft.² and put a new roof on . Also replaced 13 sheets of poorly installed plywood. Cleaned my gutters. And the entire yard surrounding the house to make sure there were no garbage scraps. In one day. No baloney. One day done. And now. 40 year roof will help me sleep at night. Thank you Taurus roofing."

"Bailey Mercer was an excellent roof inspector I wish i could have gone with him but due to the fact that another company was willing to go with a 1 year old bid on our house their bid was too good to pass up. If your getting a roof replaced ask for Bailey, very knowledgeable, straight talk, honest, easy to work with, professional."

"They were prompt and conscientious. Because installation of the gutters happened on a day when snow was melting from the roof, they were able to spot an area where water was leaking and made arrangements to come back and seal that area. I didn't even have to notice it first. They saw it and scheduled a day to return to fix it."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

You can secure roof decorations like inflatables and other Christmas decor by tying a rope or attacking bungee cords to your roof clips. Depending on the pitch of your roof, you can use sandbags for extra support. Like with Christmas lights, avoid using staples or duct tape.

The purchase price of 3-tab shingles is less than that of other material varieties, such as architectural shingles. However, 3-tab shingles generally last far fewer years than even the least expensive architectural ones. Other roofing types, such as metal or clay, also cost more than 3-tab shingles. However, if you plan to stay in your home for many years, the long-term cost of any of these options can compete with 3-tabs because of their longevity.

A roof pitch multiplier is an accurate way to calculate roof square footage, and it’s handy for purchasing the correct amount of materials. To determine your roof pitch multiplier, you'll need to calculate the roof slope, square it, and add it to 144. Next, find the square root of the total and divide it by 12. The answer is your roof pitch multiplier. Once you know the roof pitch multiplier, multiply it by the total square feet of your building to determine the total roof surface area.

Verify that your roof is licensed and insured by visiting your state's contractor's licensing association. Most states have a database to double-check your contractor's name and address against the information provided. The contractor should also display both their license and insurance on their website with links to the related agencies.

While you technically can add a roof over shakes or shingles, it’s not a good idea. Roofing over existing roofing creates a moisture barrier underneath the new roof and since the trapped material is wood, you can expect a moisture problem. While you could get away with installing a new roof over asphalt or steel, wooden roofs should be removed, new underlayment installed, and the new roof installed over that. Also, the extra weight would add strain to your roof structure.
