"We have two heat pump/furnances and our largest unit went out just before Christmas. Both were getting old and we decided it was time to upgrade to more energy efficient units. Oregon Heating and AC came out, sized the job, provided a bid and went over everything in detail. We liked the Trane equipment and felt the price was good and the bid process handled very professionally - so we selected OHAC over 3 other companys. Because tax credits expired at the end of the year, there was a huge demand to get units installed. We did not even get bids from 2 other companies as they could not install before January. OHAC was pretty booked but managed to schedule us in and complete the job in time anyway. The process took about 5 days total. Everyone was very professional. The job turned out to be a little more complex then originally thought, but they just took it in stride and did what they had to for the original bid. The only negative was when they were trying to figure out were to run the new line sets, they cut a few more holes in the walls then was really needed. This turned out not to be a big issue as their drywall repairman took care of all the holes and did such a great job, you cannot even see where they cut. Once the system was up and running, there were some vents in the house that were quite a bit noiser then our old units. This was because the air flow was more powerful. They came replaced some hard duct with soft and this solved most of the issues. There were a couple other vents where the ducting could not be reached and they installed energy efficient register covers and the problem was solved. The last issue we had was the standard control units that came with the systems had an audible click when turning on/off. As one contol unit was in the bedroom this was an issue. The other was in the main area of the house and not so much an issue for us humans but our dog is extremely afraid of new noises and the click would send her flying off to a safe corner. When I complained, they immediately came out and replaced the controllers, with upgraded ones that do not make any noise, at no extra charge. We would definitely recommend this company to others."

"They were on time. They diagnosed the problem and, although the furnace seemed to be constructed to make repairing it difficult, they fixed the problem. My only complaint was the bill was one line (parts and labor) with no breakdown of how much each was. It was not too expensive, so no problem. It just would have been nice to have it broken down."

"Extremely well - my only issue is that they didn't know about the repairs after telling them about it when I ordered the services - but hey were extremely reasonable on price and went above and beyond. Highly Recommend"

"I contacted the branch of this company in Clackamas, since they had performed a heating system checkup in 2015, and I was impressed with their attention to detail and professionalism. I called them around 830 AM, and they were booked for the day, so we scheduled a visit for the next day. The tech (Paul) called and arrived as scheduled. He did a diagnosis and needed to order a part (sequencer) to get the furnace working again. At the time Paul wrote up the service order, we agreed that he would replace the fan relay as well as the sequencer. He then presented me with a bill for $458, which included a 5% Angie's List discount. Paul came out with the part the next day and got the furnace running again. I was disappointed that the fan relay had not been replaced, and after checking Amazon and a couple of other parts sites, found that a sequencer should only cost $30-$50! I called the office and complained about the excessive bill, but they did not want to talk about it. I felt that I was gouged by this company for this repair. I understand that there are labor and equipment expenses associated with the repair, but I believe that this was still too much, especially when all the requested repairs weren't completed! I believe that the amount should have been half or less that what I was billed."

Humidifier Repair questions, answered by experts

One handy thing about whole-house dehumidifiers is, once installed, you don’t have to worry about placement or changing the dehumidifier’s position. But if you are using a portable dehumidifier, we suggest keeping it away from walls, vents, and furniture. It needs a central, unobstructed spot with access to lots of air to do its job.

While you’re busy swapping out that old compressor, now is a great time to have your furnace cleaned and serviced , especially if your home is older and your heating system is as old as your AC unit. Likewise, it’s a good idea to clean your air ducts to ensure air flows properly through the house.

NATE-certified technicians may charge slightly higher service fees compared to non-certified technicians. This is because NATE certification signifies a higher level of expertise and professionalism, often leading to more efficient and effective HVAC repairs and installations. While the upfront cost may be marginally higher, NATE-certified technicians can potentially save you money in the long run by reducing energy consumption, preventing frequent breakdowns, and extending the life span of your HVAC system. When looking for a local HVAC company to hire, it never hurts to ask about NATE certifications.

An evaporator or swamp cooler is a common alternative for small spaces. These coolers blow moist air into a space to help cool it down. They are more affordable than misters and use much less water. However, coolers will not have the same cooling effect as misters, cannot help plants survive the heat, and only reach a small area.

Air conditioners and dehumidifiers are actually quite similar, though they perform different jobs. Dehumidifiers reduce moisture in the air, while air conditioners work to cool the home. A good central AC unit will naturally perform a certain level of dehumidification due to its design, but it will not be able to handle excessive levels of moisture.
