"I called all around Portland to find someone who would be willing to
repair them, and preferably at our location.    Premier was the only one
that could do this.   One other provider could pick them up for a fee
and then mail them to Hunter Douglas, and their price was twice as high
as Premier quoted, including shipping.
Everything was very professional, including working with the person who scheduled the technician, follow up,
the proficiency and promptness of the technician, and payment.
I would not hesitate to use them again for repair or for purchasing new treatments based on this positive experience.
I recommend them.

"Eugene was wonderful.  I got several bids from other people to refinish and install hardwoods and his was the best. He was courteous and a pleasure to work with. He was onsite everyday the work was done. He refinished existing hardwoods throughout the house and installed new hardwoods in the kitchen and dining area. He was able to match the old wood with the new perfectly. I will definately use him again when I do my bathroom remodel and kithchen countertop.

"I had a great experience with Lifetime Windows and Doors. I worked with Matt to purchase and install a new front door. I love my door and the accent glass, price was as expected, installation was smooth, good communication, and everyone is so nice. I would work with Lifetime again for future needs."

"We had some circumstances come up in our lives that delayed us being able to use this deal for several months and Taylor was patient with us as we found a date that worked with our schedule. We had a nice surprise during our consult with him when he explained that since our deal was actually based on square footage we could paint a hallway as well as the three rooms we had decided on. The two painters who did the actual painting were polite and easy to work with. Due to some drywall repair and a dark room that required more coats than expected, the job ran long and the painters needed to return to finish the work. Even though there was language buried in the small print of the Angie's List offer that would have absolved them of having to come back and do another coat, he recognized that the language was misleading and understood that finishing the job and having a satisfied customer was more important than the money lost by coming back and doing the extra work. We really appreciated that flexibility and reasonableness. He also offered the use of his company account discount at our paint store which saved us quite a bit of money when purchasing the paint for the job. We would use their services again."

"Colonial Restorations was superb.   Our family very much enjoyed working with Brad Green and Tom Green.

At the outset, they made thorough assessments of our family's barn, identifying several problem areas and offering multiple proposals for how best to address each (including strategies and estimates).  They walked through the different proposals with us, addressing all questions and discussing different options.  This was extremely constructive and important to the process.

They demonstrated very clear understanding of post-and-beam wood construction.  They displayed great expertise in working with wood (white oak, red oak, hemlock) and with the tools, jacks and cribbing needed for this work.  They worked carefully, always putting in place the necessary jacks and cribbing in advance of each phase of this project.

They were clear about their schedule and were very responsible about communicating with us.  If there were a day that they would not be on site, they let us know ahead of time.  With the exception of a snow storm and an illness, they were on site five days a week from the first week in January till the second week in February, 2016.

By the completion of this project, Colonial Restorations had made significant and important structural repairs to our barn.  This work was done with care, craft, accuracy, and to code.  (All elements of this project were examined and passed by the building inspector.)  Most important, these repairs respected and worked with the existing structure and materials of the barn.

We could not be happier with these repairs or with the work done by Colonial Restorations.  It was a pleasure working with Brad and Tom."

Window Shutter Repair questions, answered by experts

The most popular estate shutter brands include Hunter Douglas, Budget Blinds®, and Graber®. Hunter Douglas shutters cost $20 to $26 per square foot and include high-quality hardwood and faux wood options. Budget Blinds shutters cost $20 to $24 per square foot, depending on if you choose natural wood or another material. Depending on the material, Graber shutters range from $18 to $24 per square foot.

Wood is the most classic shutter material. Common options include pine, cedar, or brasswood. MDF shutters are also a more affordable option that retains the timeless, classic look. Composite shutters, mainly vinyl and aluminum shutters, have also become more popular over the years. You may also find steel shutters, sometimes referred to as security shutters, used on the exterior. Shutters also come in various colors and finishes, adding another layer of design flexibility.

Shutters are still very common in Southern, farmhouse, and traditional-style homes, especially those in warm climates who can benefit from the increased efficiency. While modern homes and designs tend to shy away from shutters, shutters are a timeless design style that will likely be around for decades to come.

The average shutter is designed to last 20 to 25 years. Proper maintenance for the type of shutters you have is essential for helping them reach their full potential.

Plantation shutters cost an average of $2,990, making them one of the pricier shutter options. However, they offer a 75% return on your investment and are great options for boosting curb appeal and property value. Most people go for plantation shutters for their timeless, vintage look. They also provide the strongest light blocking and temperature control for your home.
