"A little disappointed, the teck appears to have done a good job however, I don't think I should have needed to clean up the carpet fragments after completion. Also in making appointment was told 10% discount for Angies list. Teck said no discount for minimum charge."

When you install laminate flooring, you have to install spacers (also called expansion gaps) along the edges. This space along the edges gives the flooring the room it needs to naturally expand and contract. When you don't have an expansion gap, you can end up with damaged or warped planks. If the gap is large, you may need to insert backer rod, such as a foam filler, before caulking. Once dry, paint the caulk to match the baseboard for a clean, seamless look.

For instance, flat rubber—which is dense, durable, and higher-priced than other padding materials—has a life span of up to 20 years. On the other hand, prime foam—a lower-priced material that often comes free with a carpet installation—lasts less than five years on average.
