"Had a clogged drain backflowing into both showers. I have an older home that is notoriously hard to work on. Cameron had no problems. The whole experience was great. I would definitely recommend Georgeâ s Drains to anyone."

Customers say: Super punctual

"I called Jack Woods Plumbing, and they had a cancellation for the afternoon, so were able to fit me in. The plumber called to tell me that he was on his way, and soon after he arrived, the sink was unclogged, the drain in the bathtub was adjusted so that it drained more quickly, and the plumbing under two more sinks was inspected to see if there were any leaks. The plumber was polite and professional, and without our asking, he gave us a senior discount."

"Our water pressure to the house was over 120psi; should be 60 to75psi.  The builder did not install a pressure regulator, so the high pressure ruptured the bladder in the expansion tank, and the hot water heater was leaking water through the pressure relief valve.  Called Amanda Plumbing on Friday, and scheduled service for Monday morning.  Hayden called about 20 minutes before the scheduled time to say he was coming, and he arrived on time.  He verified the issue and installed a pressure regulator.  He didn't have the proper size expansion tank, so a return appointment was scheduled for Wednesday morning.  Hayden snaked our clogged outside drain that the sump pump drains into.  He was able to cut out the tree roots clogging the drain 68 feet out (which was good, since the snake is only 75 feet long).

Hobie called about 15 minutes before the scheduled time on Wednesday, and arrived on time.  He quickly installed the new expansion tank.  Both plumbers were professional, quick and friendly.  Work was performed correctly and without issues.

I will be using Amanda Plumbing next spring when we convert to natural gas, and to replace our old water heater, and anytime we need plumbing work.

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

This depends on the location of the blockage. If the blockage is in your home’s system, anywhere in the system, it is your responsibility as a homeowner. Blockages seldom happen because of items or buildup coming from the city, which means it originates in the home. It becomes the city’s responsibility at the exact point your home’s line distributes waste into the city’s system. The exception is if the problem in your home damages the city lines.

To unclog a plumbing vent, you first need to locate it. Look at your home's roofline. The plumbing vent will be a vertical pipe sticking straight up from the roof. Since this pipe runs all the way to the main drain underneath your house, you should also be able to find it in the attic.

If the drain is frozen, the pipes connecting to the washing machine are likely frozen. If the hot water trick doesn’t also unfreeze the washing machine pipes, you can gently apply heat with a hair dryer on the lowest setting. Start at the end of the pipe closest to the faucet to prevent pressure from building in the pipes, and make sure the faucet is open to drain the water as it melts.

To get rid of a sewer smell in your crawl space, you’ll have to find the source of the problem. If it has to do with your sewer lines, then repairing the line will help. You may need to make other repairs, like fixing your sump pump or encapsulating your crawl space to reduce moisture. After you make the repair, depending on the issue, you may still need to clean out your crawl space to get rid of the stink.

Your garbage disposal is not draining because it might have a clog due to food waste, a foreign object, grease, oil, fat, or it may have a broken motor. When water doesn't flush out of the disposal, that's a key sign that your disposal has a clog or needs repair.
