"Mr Plumber Josh arrived, we talked about the problem. He told me how much the job would cost. It was high at $202.94 but I told him it needed to be done. He went to his van for appropriate tools, cleaned the drain, snaked the pipe, cleaned up. I paid him and he left, job completed in about 1/2 hour. I see ads on tv (channel 10tv) all the time for drain cleaning at $95.00. The company runs this ad constantly on tv YET I was not offered nor told this was the amount I'd be charged. This struck me odd that I was charged then as much as I was. My work was done on a Thursday. The immediate Monday morning there was the same ad for $95.00. I immediately called Mr Rooter Plumbing to ask why I paid $202 when they advertise same job at $95.00. I was finally put in touch with a gentleman (Mark) at the company who told me it was up to me to MENTION their ad that runs all the time on tv. They do not offer it. Bottom line, he is refunding me the difference as he said my job was a $95.00 job. I told him I appreciated the refund and that I'd be watching for their refund check to get to me in the mail. Word to the wise here - if you choose to use this company for drain cleaning, MENTION THE $95.00 AD that they RUN ON TV. My point, if this is the price they CONSISTANTLY advertise, it is my opinion that THEY NEED TO HONOR IT without forcing the consumer to mention it."

"They called to let us know that they would be running late, which was really nice. A lot of times places just miss their windows with no notice. It was nice to have two plumbers on the job and they made quick work of our clogged drain. They found the clog about 35ft in but went the extra step and cleared out all 75 ft of pipe that their auger would reach. They cleaned up after themselves and looked at a small other leak we had. All and all it was a great job, my only complaint is the pricing. When I called to make the appointment he said anywhere from $150-$250 but was informed by the tech that it was going to be $275 due to the use of automatic auger. Seemed pricey. I at least had a coupon for $$ off a service."

"Crew of 5 showed up same day I contacted Hm Adv and 3 hours later a very difficult job of removing and replacing drainage pipe clogged with roots was completed. Difficult job because they went under the sidewalk rather than cutting & removing it. Cost was 1/4 that of another estimate. Friendly, informative & cleaned up. Great job!"

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You should flush your AC drain line once every three months to keep it clear of debris and buildup. Keeping your AC drain line clean prevents clogs, backups, mold growth, and extra wear on your AC unit. If you live in a humid area or have several furry pets, up your cleaning schedule to once a month.

Liquid drain cleaners are harsh chemicals that can erode your pipes. To treat a slow drain or for preventative maintenance, pour hot water down the drain to break up gunk and help move it along. Make sure the water isn’t boiling hot (keep it under 140 degrees Fahrenheit) if you have plastic pipes. However, you’ll need to pull the clog out for bigger backups.

Septic tanks can clog if they aren’t pumped every few years since solid waste accumulates inside of them. Your tank might also clog if you have a habit of flushing anything other than human waste or toilet paper. Items like diapers, baby wipes, paper towels, cat litter, and personal hygiene products should never go down your pipes.

To clean gunk out of a sink drain, pour in a half cup of baking soda, then 1 cup of white vinegar. The two will react chemically; let them fizz for 15 minutes, then rinse with boiling water. Repeat these steps if necessary for particularly dirty sink drains, and consider a drain snake if there are clogs.

Clearing typically takes 1-2 hours, depending on the blockage size and location.
