One area was very stubborn and didn’t want to lift despite the heavy pressure from their foam. They worked patiently back and forth so as to minimize cracking from uneven pressure. I indicated that I'd be making the decision later and that I would reach out. Fast forward several weeks later when I reached out again, he was busy with other jobs and then out of town for a week. Immediately upon returning to the area, he stopped by and indicated he could do the work within the next week. He showed up today, ahead of schedule and completed the work within 45 minutes. Yes, masonry is more expensive than concrete because the labor is much more involved. With masonry, your expert will build your project from the ground up, one piece at a time, ensuring they use the proper amount of mortar or grout during construction and keeping the project level or plumb. Pouring concrete can also be labor-intensive, but it’s a bit less involved. It requires building a mold, pouring the concrete, and letting it cure. Use a dehumidifier for indoor concrete and a wet vacuum for outdoor surfaces. Sprinkle absorbent materials like sawdust or cat litter to soak up the remaining moisture. If the concrete is outside, simply wait for a few hot, dry days. If the concrete is inside, make sure you have good ventilation for a few days so that any remaining moisture can completely dry out.

It depends on whether you think it is worth it to make your own concrete. While you can save a lot of money making your own concrete and pouring your own concrete slab, it's an advanced DIY. Adding too much or too little water can offset the savings of skipping the professional, as the wrong mixture will not allow the concrete to cure properly for your unique project.
