Yes, you can put carpet directly on concrete. However, you need to take certain precautions to ensure the success of the carpet installation. For example, you’ll need to choose a synthetic carpet pad to provide insulation and cushioning and a vapor barrier to prevent moisture from seeping into the carpet.

Cement companies offer a wide variety of services, including delivering and pouring concrete for home foundations, walkways, patios, driveways, concrete steps, pools, pool decks, and more, plus concrete repair and patching. Most companies also have the ability to demolish and haul away old concrete landscaping features. It’s a good idea to reach out to a few different companies before hiring to make sure you choose one that can tackle the entirety of the project you have from start to finish. This method will typically save you some money over hiring multiple contractors.

You can concrete can be done when it’s wet or dry. However, it’s safer when wet, as harmful dust and chemicals are present. Sanding it when dry is faster, but you’ll agitate more dust and chemicals, meaning you’ll need to be more careful.

Concrete log siding is not the same as fiber cement siding. Fiber cement siding is made from a mixture of cement and cellulose fibers, while GFRC is made from cement, glass fibers, and polymers. The materials are similar in their durability, longevity, and curb appeal, and the main difference is that concrete log siding is available in more styles that resemble traditional log siding. Fiber cement is also less expensive, with materials costing around half what you’d pay for concrete log siding.

A 4-inch-thick concrete slab can support around 4,000 pounds per square foot if a contractor reinforces the slab with rebar, while that same slab without reinforcements will support closer to 1,000 pounds. For the purposes of a patio, 4 inches in thickness without reinforcement should suffice unless you’re installing heavy kitchen equipment or a hot tub on it. In those cases, reinforcing your slab and sticking with 4 inches of thickness should provide plenty of strength.
