He was not the pushy sales guy but explained our options and let us decide on which system we preferred in our new home. We decided to purchase a whole home water softener/purification system. I was out of town during the installation, and my wife was there for the installation of the system which was done during our move in week. She did not remember all the details of the system after installation due to all the chaos related to moving. Approximately six weeks after the system was installed, I called Adrian and asked if he could come back to our home and give me a tutorial of the system operation and its equipment since this was our first time owning this type of system. "Of course I won't know for sure if the system passes until the inspector comes out, but the guys seemed to do a great job.  One poor fellow had the lucky task of climbing 20 feet down to the bottom through a 1.5' square hole, after it was pumped out, to scrape the walls and clean out the drainage holes.  They seem confident that the system will work fine going forward.  They were more professional and friendly than I was expecting given the task at hand.  Assuming I pass my inspection I could not be more pleased.  I think the thing I appreciated the most was their fast response time and I thought the price was reasonable considering they had to also pump 3.5 truck loads of septic water from the system."

They also replaced the old, rusty parts of the plumbing stack in the basement, which had evidence of prior leaking, and they added a new washing machine drain stand pipe. They also found a leak in one of the pipes in the wall between the bathroom and the kitchen, and they replaced the leaking part, which had the added benefit of making the bathroom drain and the kitchen drain flow better. For examples, our in-stock water softeners come in a 9x48 32,000 grains (1 cubic foot) or 10x54 48,000 grains (1.5 cubic feet). Other size water softeners can be special ordered.\nResin: The type of resin will determine if it is manufactured for chlorinated or non-chlorinated water. 8% Cross-link resin is formulated for cistern/well water that has no chlorine in the water. 10% Cross-link resin is formulated for the city/country water that has chlorine or chloramines in it. If you use 8% Cross-link on chlorinated water, it will ruin the resin within a year and void your warranty.\nCarbon: Does your water softener contain carbon and if it does, what type of carbon is it, how often and how much is it to replace? The timer valves is the least expensive option of the valves because it backwashes every 2 to 3 days whether it needs to or not. The digital valve is the more expensive because there are no moving parts. When the digital valve has a problem you just simply replace the mother board, which is very expensive. The metered valve is the most popular because it counts the gallons of water first before backwashing. Also, they are very cost-effective to service when you do have a problem.\nWarranty: Nobody offers a lifetime warranty including parts and labor, so don't be sold by the hype. We offer an honest 10-year warranty on everything except for the metered valve. The metered valve comes with a 5-year warranty. The first year parts & labor are included. After the first year, the customer just pays a small service call fee. The only 3 things that can void your warranty are high water pressure (over 80psi), freezing of the water softener and using 8% Cross-link resin on chlorinated water..

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."
