We thought we made a great decision when we choose Buckeye Waterproofing but now we feel different. State out the INSIDE crew was very good, polite, informative and the work was GREAT. When we got to the outside, it started out ok--we ask that they put a pipe in the culvert since they were digging it out anyways and we paid extra for that and was totally ok with that since we ask for extra but then things went down hill--first the outside crew was not very informative--left trash in my yard 2 days in a row. The first day we cleaned it up, the second day the INSIDE crew cleaned it up. The outside crew left without bothering to tell us that they would have to wait for the yard to dry up, I had to ask one of the guys on the inside crew and they called the office--who informed us that we had to wait. Now part of the problem with the wet basement is we have a low area at the side of the house, which was to be addressed by running a French drain to the front culvert, with the sump pump from the basement connected and draining to the culvert too. But due to the lay of the land, they couldn't just attach the pipe. They had to dig a dry well and put a sump pump in it to pump the water up and into the culvert. But now they wanted more money to cover the electric and 2nd pump ( which we were told when we signed the contract would not happen--that if there were extra cost it was on them). With the 2nd sump pump the water would just lay outside and the pump in the basement would continue to pump the same water and cause it to burn up quicker. I fell for $18,970.00 they should have made sure this work right without come back to us for more money like promised. It then took them 2 months and 3 weeks and 4 broken promises later to come back and finish the yard.
So I fell cheated, lied too and held hostage to the fact that without the extra money my $18,970.00 would have been wasted. SO NO I WOULD NOT RECOMMENT THEM
IF YOU LOOK ON THE REVIEW, I MARKED INDOOR CREW ONLY!!! AND MADE SURE TO TELL THE GUY WHEN HE HAD ME FILL IT OUT BECAUSE I WASNT HAPPY WITH ALL OF IT AND YOU WERENT DONE
"[Member Name Removed] hired us for waterproofing and was completely happy with all the work we did to her home which work took 5 days to complete. She did ask for extra work at her ditch to put in drainage and cover with dirt at extra cost. We scheduled work installed drain and delivered 18 tons of dirt to spread and cover. we had three weeks of rain and couldn't spread dirt and was in contact the hole time with homeowner trying to set things up but rain keep delaying dirt being spread. We got three dry days in row and went and spread dirt perfectly. Homeowner thanked us and filled out angies list review form giving us all A's in all catagories. This was a month ago and she still hasn't paid her extra bill for work she hired us for and is now giving a bad review so she doesn't have to pay since she says she doesn't have the money know that work is done. I have copy of review form with perfect scores and homeowners signature."
"We are licensed and insured in Shaker Hts. and homeowner was very satisfied with the work we did at his home and praised are work at the end of the job back on November. While on the job homeowner also had us do additional work for them because of our performance. Also did all work without getting paid for two weeks because homeowners loan didn't go thru as they said it did and had to wait for them to find funds. The extra work we did do was repair a rotted out sanitary line. Homeowner then sent us bill three months later saying a leak developed in sanitary line and he hired a plumber who repaired it and wants me to pay his bill. We called homeowner and asked why he never called us in first place and that we would have sent someone over to look at and possible repair if it was work we did. He responded with I didn't think about calling you but believes we should pay his $ 600.00 bill. We informed him we wouldn't pay it and now he is mad and taking it out by giving us a bad review for work he praised six months ago."
We wanted them to rebuild/stabilize a 31' cracking wall we had in our basement. They convinced us only 15' needed fixed (the other 16' included a bathroom and closet that they stayed away from). We were told the entire job would be done in a week. It's been almost 3 months and it's not finished, though some of the work is exterior work that they can't do now, but they are the ones who scheduled the job in December and told me it would be done in a week.
They were to rebuild 15 feet of basement wall. We were told that would take 1 day, 2 days tops. It took 7 days. Yes we had no basement wall for 7 days at the end of December. As if that wasn't enough, the new 15' section of wall did not line up flush with the existing wall, creating a 1.5"-2" ridge in the walls.
They were no-show/no-call at least 3 times. I finally called the owner to see when they planned on returning to finish the job, and he told me he thought they were done already!
I gave them my credit card number for the initial 50% deposit. They then took it upon themselves to charge my card 2 more times for the remainder of the quoted price, prior to the job being finished (illegal? breach of contract?)! I called and e-mailed several times about this, but nobody seems to care about that.
There was dust/cement literally (I do mean literally) over every square inch of surface in my basement from the installation of the floor drains.
The first night the wall was out, they failed to cover it properly and our house was cold. I called the owner, and he said the crew forgot the materials at the shop but did the best they could.
Additionally, prior to removing the wall they turned off our water and gas for safety reasons. They turned the water back on, but not the gas. My family left for the day so they could work, and came home to 55 degree house!
They did use plastic sheets to cover the brick protect it from the elements however they also covered up our furnace vent causing it to shut off. We had to make a service call to figure out that's what happened.
They uninstalled my utility sink that was against the wall to be rebuilt, and never bothered to reinstall it, I had to do that myself.
They did not put any of the appliances back or clean up their mess. I spent 2 full weekends cleaning up their mess. We even had their pop cans sitting on our hot water tank. They left plywood, tools, and plastic sheets littered in my yard, it's still there covered with snow.
Sadly, I could really could go on for pages, as there are numerous screw-ups this company committed. Though when presented to the owner, he called them"minor issues that we'd deal with later". I have about 5 pages of documentation on all our issues, but PLEASE DO NOT EVER CONSIDER DOING BUSINESS WITH THE COMPANY.
Oh, and they have a "Lifetime Warranty" on the walls in terms of water penetration, well guess what? We have water leaking into our basement now, and we never did before. I'll be contacting them very soon to see if they will in fact back up their warranty.
Stay tuned....
We had a few communication issues, and Buckeye's approach to "fitting you in" is not my cup of tea, but they did a good job, the price was fair, and hopefully my lower level flooding issues are resolved for good.
