"I had an estimate done on some electric work, and James Pinson did an excellent job. He was very thorough, clear with his suggestions, and the pricing was very competitive. Based on James's visit and the estimate he provided, I chose Mr. Electric to complete the work."

Small jobs welcome

"Odell the technician was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. I would welcome Streb back into my home anytime I need electrical work performed. Odell went through the house and did a cursor inspection while I explained the things I needed done. He gave honest input with regards to some simple items that I would be better served doing myself. He covered each item that he could do and their individual costs. Once we determined what he should do, he set off right away and was happy to carry on some light conversation while doing the repairs. It was a great experience and I will make sure to hire them again if I need electrical work done in the future."

"James showed up right on time. My project is more complicated than I originally thought. He thoroughly inspected my house and presented several options. Should we decide to move forward with the project, we will not hesitate to hire Manges Electric"

"Mr. Electric provided excellent service for me under difficult circumstances. A building contractor damaged a wire and buried it under 42” of concrete. Ryan Corley, Mr. Electric’s wire detection specialist, was able to locate the wire accurately. Electricians Jeff Shipkosky and Khefren Johnson spent two and a half very long days, in 93-degree heat, digging around the perimeter of my house. Both ends of the damaged wire were eventually located six feet underground, which is considerable deeper than code requires. Justin David, Mr. Electric’s manager, was here working alongside his men and provided all the support possible to them. He maintained full contact and communication with me throughout the entire process. These men, along with a crew of assistants, are a class act company. I was very impressed at the dedication of Mr. Electric and recommend them highly."

"These guys ran original wiring from the electric panel to the garage, installed lights, outlets, an outside socket and exterior lights. The garage had one light bulb and one outlet. I couldn't be happier with the quality of the work or the price. I just wish I had taken before and after pictures. They are on my agenda for further renovations."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Elyria, homes built before the 1950s may have knob-and-tube wiring, limited panel capacity, or thick plaster walls, all of which can complicate electrical upgrades. Multi-story homes often feature narrow wall cavities and decorative trim that require careful planning. Post-war ranches may have concrete slab foundations or outdated aluminum wiring, making access and safety upgrades more challenging for electrical projects.

Helpful?

In Elyria, be wary of quotes that are unusually low, lack a detailed breakdown of materials and labor, or come with pressure for immediate acceptance. Avoid contractors who can’t show proof of insurance or only accept cash payments. Ensure the quote specifies a clear timeline and confirms that required permits for electrical work will be obtained, which is essential for safety and compliance with local regulations.

Helpful?

Signs your Elyria home may need electrical work redone include missing GFCI outlets in kitchens or bathrooms, flickering lights, or outlets that feel warm to the touch. Watch for mismatched wiring, exposed splices, or evidence of moisture or rodent damage, which are common in the local climate. Persistent breaker trips or burning odors also signal it’s time for a professional electrical safety inspection.

Helpful?

To enhance electrical safety in your Elyria home, install tamper-resistant outlets and AFCI breakers, especially in bedrooms and play areas. For added protection, use cord covers and place outlets out of reach where pets or young children frequent. When upgrading outdoor spaces, ensure outlets have weatherproof covers and GFCI protection. Transitioning between indoor and outdoor safety measures helps create a family-friendly environment year-round.

Helpful?

Your Elyria home is ideal for electrical upgrades if it has a modern electrical panel with room for expansion, grounded three-prong outlets, copper wiring, and GFCI protection in key areas. Homes with unfinished basements or accessible attics make rewiring easier. If you notice frequent breaker trips or have an older fuse box, address these electrical safety concerns before starting new projects.
