I am new to Angie's List but my company is also listed on Home Advisor and I have several reviews there. Kev's Home Improvement is owner operated. When you call for assistance with your project, I am the person you will talk to on the telephone, I am the person that will quote your project and I am the person that will perform the work. For larger jobs, I will be on site with the workers, working right along side of them, ensuring the job is done correctly. I accept cash, checks and all major credit cards. My company is registered with the Better Business Bureau and is fully insured. Over 5 years ago, I left my union job and went into business full time. No payment until job is complete. No sub-contracting, we do all our own work. Always free estimates.1-3 employees

"Our complaint is much like the prior complaint of 2017. Apparently he is still conducting business in the same manor. Rob Cook, reported to the job sporadically citing many excuses (which were outlandish) why he was not able to work. Suffice it to say, he did not finish the job after being paid and would not return calls or text messages. If we had seen all the negative feedback on him, we never would have hired him. Today personal integrity, moral and ethical relationships are the cornerstones of business. It pays in good will for the short term and earns dividends in the long term in the form of solid, mutually rewarding relationships and referrals. In the law of Karma, he is responsible for his own life and how he treats other people. We do however wonder if he likes the man looking back at him in the mirror each morning."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Not all porch columns are load-bearing, though they can be. Some porch columns are simply decorative. There are ways to identify a load-bearing column, like looking for visible seams and a foundation. Also, check to see if the column directly enters the ground. In some porch installations, a contractor will excavate a hole to install a column into the earth along with a buried cement base for stability.

The best way to know if your beams still provide adequate support is to consult a structural engineer. Structural beams can crack and even sag over time but may still be structurally sound. Keep an eye out for signs of issues in your home, such as sagging floors or ceilings, major cracks in your ceiling and walls, or signs of water damage around a weight-bearing wall.

Stick frames, metal frames, or prefabricated concrete frames are included in framing a house, along with creating the framework and space for windows, doors, and entryways. Other aspects of developing a home—like drywall, insulation, windows, doors, and more—are not included in the cost to frame a house.

No, beams are the primary load-bearers for flooring or roofing systems, and they distribute the weight of the structure to your foundational supports, while joists bear far less weight and distribute their loads to the beams. Beams are usually thicker and longer, and they have support posts or foundation walls beneath them for support.

Sagging floors, large cracks in your walls, and uneven door frames are three signs that your floor joists need to be replaced. You may also notice squeaky floorboards, windows that no longer close correctly, and stairs that sag on either side. You'll need a structural engineer or floor contractor to confirm whether the floor joists are the true problem behind these issues.
