"We had to replace our roof and skylights. Our salesman Brian was very informative and helpful.. Don and his amazing crew really impressed us. Don kept me in the loop throughout the day, They were able to not only remove and replace our roof in one day.. they thoroughly cleaned up everything before leaving at sundown! I would absolutely recommend Victor?s Home Solution!!!"

"They were able to replace the skylight in less than 2 weeks after the quote. They did a good job and make the finish on the inside look good. A few weeks later, there was a heavy rain and my new skylight is no longer leaking like my old one that was replaced."

"Went very well. Brian was honest in saving money by not having gto replace entire skylight. Was willing to hunt down where the leak was coming from and suggested a less expensive repair. Also repaired two stacks while on site saving potential damage in the future."

"We had a hail storm which damaged our roof. Called Popil Roofing, they responded immediately and was at the house within 24 hours. Inspected the damage, gave us a quote and within 72 hours our new roof was installed. Installed ice and water shield to help prevent ice build up. Was very proffesional and explained every step. Also noticed that the sky lights were wrong and replaced them.

"Although the service provider showed their knowledge of maintaining the roof, they spent a lot of time trying to persuade to replace the roof. Other than the excessive selling and persuasion, the service is generally good.

Skylights questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can cover up a skylight if you no longer wish to have it in your space. There are a few options for covering up a skylight. One option is to install a skylight cover or shade that can be easily opened or closed as needed, allowing you to control the amount of light entering the room. Another option is to cover the skylight with a solid material, such as plywood or drywall, effectively sealing it off. However, when covering a skylight, it's essential to ensure proper insulation and waterproofing to prevent any issues in the future.

There are four main types of lighting used in homes: ambient, task, accent, and decorative. Within these categories, there are a number of fixtures to choose from including ceiling-mounted lights, floor lamps, under-cabinet lights, track lighting, and more.

Choosing the fixture that’s right for you depends on your home design and the area you’re looking to illuminate.

Yes, you can add blinds or shades to both roof windows and skylights, but roof windows tend to have more options available. Retractable skylight shades are popular on both options for added privacy, light control, and heat reduction, although they’re more expensive than manually-operated blinds or shades. If you have a roof window or skylight set in a high ceiling, a motorized or solar-powered skylight window covering is probably your best bet.

This is based on personal preference, budget, and the vibe you are going for with your holiday lighting. If you are looking for the cheapest option, incandescent lights are a budget-friendly choice. You can also opt for sheets of lights that cover areas such as trees and bushes for easier installation.

While it is possible to install a skylight as a DIY project, it is not recommended. Skylights are the most likely type of window to leak due to their position on the roof. Even minor mistakes during installation can lead to significant water damage and high repair costs. Additionally, working on a roof is dangerous, especially when maneuvering heavy, bulky windows. Due to the required roof modifications and the need for proper sealing and structural safety, hiring a professional skylight installer is strongly advised to avoid costly long-term issues.
