Small jobs welcome

"Odell the technician was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. I would welcome Streb back into my home anytime I need electrical work performed. Odell went through the house and did a cursor inspection while I explained the things I needed done. He gave honest input with regards to some simple items that I would be better served doing myself. He covered each item that he could do and their individual costs. Once we determined what he should do, he set off right away and was happy to carry on some light conversation while doing the repairs. It was a great experience and I will make sure to hire them again if I need electrical work done in the future."

"Jim is an experienced electrician. We hired him to install an 220 line to our garage for the purpose of charging our new EV. Experienced in this type of job, Jim arrived with everything needed to complete the work (i.e. running the electrical line from the Box - which need a bit of modification - through the basement ceiling to the garage, and installing the 220 receptacle in the garage.) Only slight hitch was the the actual 220 outlet which was mounted in such a way that I could not mount the actual vehicle charger in the best location on the garage wall. Everything worked fine, I just have to come up with a fixture to permanently mount the charger. Jim did all the work within a 2 hour window. I think the cost was a bit on the pricey side (though Jim said that his price would be among the cheapest around. I'm not so sure of that). Bottom line however, I chose Jim because he impressed me that he was fully capable of doing a quality job, which he did. So I am a satisfied customer."

"Mr. Electric provided excellent service for me under difficult circumstances. A building contractor damaged a wire and buried it under 42” of concrete. Ryan Corley, Mr. Electric’s wire detection specialist, was able to locate the wire accurately. Electricians Jeff Shipkosky and Khefren Johnson spent two and a half very long days, in 93-degree heat, digging around the perimeter of my house. Both ends of the damaged wire were eventually located six feet underground, which is considerable deeper than code requires. Justin David, Mr. Electric’s manager, was here working alongside his men and provided all the support possible to them. He maintained full contact and communication with me throughout the entire process. These men, along with a crew of assistants, are a class act company. I was very impressed at the dedication of Mr. Electric and recommend them highly."

"Very professional company and honest, knowledgeable staff. I had received 3 quotes for my project, and their quote was the best, and I felt most comfortable with their staff. I did not have the project completed yet, although when I do, I'll be choosing Advanced Technologies and Electrical."

"Best Electrician out there. I had other electricians do work for me previously, but since will only use KMZ. . He was able to not only do the project I called him about, he was willing and more than able to help me out with a couple of other electrical issues that I had at my place of business. Outstanding knowledge of how things work. Affordable."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Broadview Heights, hidden costs often come up when older homes require bringing outdated wiring or panels up to current code, especially during renovations. Additional expenses may arise if inspectors require upgrades for safety, such as installing GFCI or AFCI protection. Underground wiring in established neighborhoods can require trenching or tree root removal, and permit or re-inspection fees can add to the overall project cost.

Helpful?

Homeowners in OH should keep a non-contact voltage tester, GFCI outlet tester, and digital multimeter for routine safety checks. Wire strippers, insulated screwdrivers, and electrical tape are essential for minor repairs. Stock up on weatherproof outlet covers and silicone sealant to protect against moisture, especially during wet seasons. Having surge protectors and a portable generator is wise for storm-related outages common in the region.

Helpful?

In Broadview Heights, homeowners are increasingly adding smart home features like app-controlled lighting, programmable thermostats, and integrated security systems. Outdoor living enhancements—such as weatherproof outlets, landscape lighting, and wiring for backyard entertainment spaces—are also popular. Many residents are preparing for electric vehicle charging and creating dedicated circuits for home offices, reflecting a shift toward technology-driven comfort and year-round outdoor enjoyment.

Helpful?

The success and longevity of electrical work in Broadview Heights rely on using weather-appropriate, high-quality materials that can handle frequent freeze-thaw cycles and humidity. Properly sealing exterior boxes and using corrosion-resistant fixtures are especially important due to local weather. Ensuring all work is inspected and meets current codes, along with regular electrical maintenance, helps prevent issues common in Broadview Heights’ mix of older and newer homes.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Broadview Heights should prioritize a comprehensive electrical safety inspection to identify any outdated or unsafe wiring. Upgrading smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to meet OH standards is essential. Installing GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and garages, checking the electrical panel for capacity, and adding surge protection are all smart steps. Consider LED lighting upgrades and smart thermostats for improved energy efficiency and convenience.
